Fan claims Gallagher hit him at show

Here is the APstory. Three questions immediately come to mind:[ol]
[li]Gallagher has fans?[/li][li]Could Gallagher make an affirmative defense that anybody who comes to his show deservers to be slapped?[/li][li]Is there anything more depressing than being a washed-up entertainer with a perpetual low-rent Vegas booking? (Oh wait, I know the answer. Getting fired from said booking.)[/li][/ol]

Doing Auto Title Loan commercials would be up there. (Oh wait… he does… and bashes a watermelon while doing them…)

You’ve got to admire anyone with the sheer…sanssouciance?..to admit they went to a Gallagher show.

As a wise recapper at TWOP once put it, “Making Old Navy commercials doesn’t mean your career has hit rock bottom. It means your career has hit rock bottom, face down and skidding…”

Bwahahaha:

That is funny for so many reasons.

Back in the 80’s when Gallagher was fairly new to the national scene and popular, some friends of mine and I saw him walking down the street in Hyannis (Cape Cod). One of the guys I was with was a fan, spotted him and ran over to say hi. Now, on one hand, Gallagher was on vacation and I can understand that he probably got a lot of that sort of thing and maybe just wanted to get some salt water taffy in peace, but when my friend said, “Hey, How’s it going?” or something innocuous like that, Gallagher just shot him a nasty look and kept walking. Mike hadn’t asked for an autograph or anything, just said hello. Of course, that doesn’t amount to hitting someone by any means, but the guy just gave the impression of being an asshole from the way my friend described the brief encounter.

To be fair, its possible the fan had a watermelon shaped head.

The article refers to Gallagher as a comedian. Aren’t comedians supposed to be funny? Was the watermelon thing ever funny after the first time he did it? Was it funny the first time?

Yessiree, that’s how I’d want my tombstone to look.

I spent several minutes with Gallagher and wife and entourage (yes, he had an entourage) a few years back and he was a total prick. Since then he’s divorced that wife (she looked/sounded like Fran Drescher but with a buzz-cut) and had a series of heart attacks. Also, his family doesn’t speak to him because he sued his even more pathetic brother from copying his act, essentially sending him from a decent living back to collecting cans.

However, if any of you have his racoon head he’ll give you a $200 reward.

Tell me I’m not the only one who opened this thread wondering:

Liam or Noel?

BWAHAHA
“stealing it robs others of laughter”

If Celebrity DeathMatch was still in production, we’d be seeing Gallagher vs. Richard Simmons

Gallagher is one of those people who’s about as funny as an orphanage fire.

My husband and I saw him years ago at a New Year’s Eve thingie. He was the headliner, after Danny Bonaduce and Dennis Miller. Gallagher came out, did a few half-hearted jokes to almost zero response. He shouted, “Oh yeah, you laugh for Miller and that f*kin’ Partridge kid!”

Then someone in the audience yelled “Sledge-o-matic!” At that point, Gallagher summoned security and insisted that they “escort this assh*le out of here.” The rest of his show was nothing but more abuse heaped on the audience.

When we left the theatre, all three were standing in the lobby to “meet & greet.” Bonaduce and Miller were mobbed, but NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON approached Gallagher.

Casey1505: I think that tombstone would look a lot better without that “by” in the last sentence.

I recall Gallagher in the early 80’s being pretty popular. He had a series of Showtime specials showcasing his stand-up act as well.

He was never an A player in the comedian circuit but he wasn’t pathetic, either.

When I was a teenage boy I thought smashing shit was funny stuff.

As one trick wonder he was funny, once for about 20 minutes.

Nah, he had some decent routines other than the Sledge-O-Matic skit. There were a few of his comedy specials where he had some decent Carlin-esque jokes about language, and did a bit after the bitch of his child that was decent.

Nothing groundbreaking, and good chunks of it could have been pirated material, but when I was 12 I thought alot of it was pretty funny.

He had his moment in the sun, unfortunately for him he didn’t fall from the spotlight gracefully. He could have learned from Wierd Al about how to fall from celebrity with a little self-depricating humour.

um…birth, not bitch…wow, how about that typo, huh?
