Today I accidently dropped a game cube disk on a tile floor. When I picked it up, I accidently touched the under side. As I play the game, what should I look for if the drop and the finger prints have damaged the disk?
I seriously doubt either the drop or the fingerprints damaged the disc. At worse, the fingerprints will cause the disc to skip etc. All you need to do it grab a cloth and wipe the disc from the center of the disc out (do not wipe in a circular fashion). Other than that, I’m sure it’ll be fine.
Why not?
Because rubbing in a circular motion has a greater chance of leaving scratches which can take out a large portion of a track. By wiping in a radial motion, thus cutting across the tracks perpendicularly, any data loss due to scratches will be small and error-correction methods will make up for it.
