The confirmation that Storm of Swords is being broken up into two seasons is welcome news though.
She’s also not preggo this season, which must have limited her range. It’s kind of hard to do much of anything in that state. (like get up out of a chair in the otherwise wonderful Robert and Cersei “was there ever a chance for us?” scene from season 1)
Noticed some small details on the second viewing. Right before Tyrion mentions to Cercei about the incest, his face goes through several stages where he doubts he should bring it up, then just a hint of being giddy at the thought of poking her, then more serious. Well acted.
And when Tyrion is trying to threaten Varys, he uses his whole hand to block the door, whereas when Varys turns it around on him, he holds the door shut with one finger - subtly mocking their size difference.
The casting on this show is really amazing - there’s no one that isn’t really perfect for their role possibly except for Littlefinger, who’s awkward at times. But maybe that’s the character. Peter Dinklage was born to play Tyrion and he’s nailing it like a rock star.
It’s unfortunate that Tyrion is supposed to be really, really ugly, and yet Dinklage is a stunningly handsome guy. But it’s worth the slight disconnect, but he dominates every scene he’s in, just like he’s supposed to.
As noted above, Tyrion is supposed to be pretty ugly, but I don’t mind. The guy playing Stannis isn’t quite right, nor is the actress playing Catelyn Stark, but otherwise it’s excellent all around, I’d say.
Please keep the book comparisons to one of the two spoiler threads. Yes, I realize it’s mild - hardly worth mentioning, really - but slippery slope and all that.

You’re right. My apologies.
where did you see that? i watched it 3 times and saw nothing but a shadow…
I didn’t see it at first either. Look up. The WW’s are really tall. the eyes are higher than I was looking the first few times.
Yeah, I saw the blue eyes. That was the moment I went from “Hmm… Is he just gonna leave the baby out in the snow? That’s not so horrif-OH SHIT.”
Just rewatched the last episode in preparation for tomorrow’s, and I caught a line (and a closeup) I had previously missed.
Was this the first we heard about Stannis chopping off the fingers of his right-hand (heh) man? (I forgot his name - the guy who managed to recruit the pirate who wants to fuck the queen.) I hadn’t even previously noticed he was missing any fingers.
Davos Seaworth, and yes that’s the first they mention it. It wasn’t noticeable at all from just looking at him, i guess he wears regular gloves. I think he said tip of the fingers though.
Oops, not sure if all that info has been delivered on the show. Suffice to say Stannis is a dick like everyone in Westros.
