Game of Thrones 3.03 "Walk of Punishment" 4/14/13 No Book Spoilers

The butcher’s boy who Arya was sparring with by the riverside, not the boy that Arya accidentally ran through with Needle during her escape from King’s Landing. This was during the Starks’ trip from Winterfell to King’s Landing with King Robert’s entourage, during the beginning of Season 1. It’s what started the whole mess with Sansa’s direwolf being killed.

Right. The butcher’s boy, who Joffrey was bullying when Arya’s dire wolf bit his arm. Near King’s Landing.

Ah. I forgot about the trip from Winterfell.

On the way to kings landing, not near. You know, I’ve read the books a buncha times but it wasn’t until hearing out loud that I realized how dirty that song is.

Random thought: I think Bronn is my favorite character and I really love the Tyrion/Bronn bromance. Which probably means next episode Bronn will stab him in the back for a few gold coins or something.

2 of my favorite exchanges:

Tyrion Lannister: What do you want, Bronn? Gold? Women? Golden women? Stick with me and you’ll have them all, for as long as I’m around and not a moment longer. But you knew that. That is why you so valiantly took up arms to defend my honor.
Bronn: Fair enough. But don’t go looking for me to bend the knee and “m’lord” you every time you take a shit. I’m not your toady and I’m not your friend.
Tyrion Lannister: Though I would treasure your friendship, I’m mainly interested in your facility with murder. And if the day ever comes when you’re tempted to sell me out, remember this: whatever their price, I’ll beat it. I like living.

Bronn: Don’t get killed.
Tyrion Lannister: Nor you, my friend.
Bronn: Oh… are we friends now?
Tyrion Lannister: Of course we are. Just because I pay you for your services doesn’t diminish our friendship.
Bronn: Enhances it, really.
Tyrion Lannister: Oh, “enhances”. Fancy word for a sellsword.
Bronn: Been spending time with fancy folks.

I would watch 24 episodes a year until the end of time of the adventures of Tyrion and Bronn.

Which is probably why Pod is being groomed as Tyrion’s new BFF. Just sayin’.

Pod is nowhere near as fun as Bronn.

For the “Pod gets served for free” bit, I thought it was pretty clear, based on the preceding scene in which Littlefinger described the debt he owed to Tyrion, that this was Littlefinger’s doing- paying his own debt to Tyrion by paying for Tyrion’s debt to Podrick.

I like the North stories but I hate that those guys don’t wear anything on their heads. I suppose if they did, we wouldn’t be able to tell them apart. But it’s cold! Wear a hat!

They wear big manly beards, what more could a man need.

I noticed that too.

The crows are hatless but it looks like the wildlings are hooded.

I think you mean winterhell?

I can’t imagine a debt between Tyrion and Littlefinger amounting to a small purse of gold coins on par with what you’d pay three prostitutes off with.

I guess I am the only one who has some sympathy for Theon. Let’s not forget what his life has been. He was taken from his family and his home by the Stark’s as a ward and a hostage. While the Starks treated him reasonably well he was also well aware of his place. When he was finally allowed to return to his father he was treated like shit, made to feel unwanted.

Now let me be clear he is not a saint or worthy of considerable sympathy, but he is not simply a bad guy in my mind.

Killed two children, not a bad guy. If he had raped them first would that make him a bad guy?

Yes, I hate Sam and Gilly. Speaking as a fat man, I am continually embarrassed at how pathetic Sam is mentally and emotionally. Bleargh.

I don’t think there are any explicit rules, but the conversation seemed to suggest that a man has got to have a bit of fire in him and whatever Stannis had has been used up.

Yeah, that was very well done.

Last season, Jon Snow discovered that Craster was feeding his newborn sons to the White Walkers.

I said he was not simply a bad guy, which I stand by. He is not a cardboard cutout, he is a very interesting character. I am not saying you have to like him or cheer for him, but the idea that anyone on the show is clearly good or bad somewhat misses the point.

And Jojen is played by the kid who was Liam Neeson’s stepson in Love, Actually! I recognized him immediately.

Well, the actors playing Arya and Bran have already outgrown their roles.

I wish I could have kept doing that. But after being accidentally spoiled on several key plot points, I gave up and just read the books.

As others have said, I thought it was clear that Littlefinger did that to repay the debt to Tyrion that they had discussed earlier in the episode.

Stannis’s character has the boring trait, but his storyline isn’t as boring.

No, it didn’t happen near King’s Landing. It just happened on the way to King’s Landing.

And the kid that Arya killed when fleeing King’s Landing was a stableboy, not a butcher’s boy.

I think they should rename the show to:

Tyrion and friends - a game of whores.

Everytime that guy comes on the screen, I buckle down for some of the best performances of the episode.

I might have a man crush.

Anyway, I might have missed it, but I only saw people alluding to what happened to Jaime. My bootle— eh, my internet cut out as soon as the stupid audio was replaced by some horrible song.

what happened exactly?

So I learned.

Yes, I was not talking about the stableboy.
