Game of Thrones 4.08 "The Mountain and the Viper" 6/1/14 [no spoilers]

“Ser Hinry Kisengar”…snerk.

From your mouth to Oberyn’s ears but alas too late.

When Tyrion tired of hearing lies about himself in ‘court’, he called for the Gods to decide the matter, trial by combat. As I see it, those people who did not know if Tyrion was culpable in his ‘nephews’ death (DNA-wise, more or less a brother), can now say that Tyrion was judged by the Gods as guilty. Those who know the truth can say that the Gods decided that Tyrion should take the blame so that the real killers could avoid detection, Gods being in favor of what they did to Joffrey.

Tyrion himself might feel that way, that the Gods were willing he should die to pay for Joffrey’s death, that he had always been too cowardly to make it publicly known that Jaime and Cercei were lovers who used murder, themselves, to cover their sins. Maybe if he had been braver, Joffrey may not have ever gotten the throne.

His brother, sister, niece and nephews might then have been executed by an enraged King Robert. I don’t think Tyrion would’ve been willing to pay that price, even if meant keeping a sociopathic Joffrey off the throne.

The Mountain is playing Dandy Crush Saga.

Those recaps had been getting kind of repetitive, but this one was hilarious.

Thanks. Love the fight poster.

TBT and #YesAllWomen were nice additions.

The Mountain and the Viper: Denial Version.

Still a nephew, just two different ways.

The Mountain and the Viper and Rashomon - that’s not how I remember it!

I loved how Ramsey took Theon’s noble name away from him, then used him as a pawn, leading to him receiving a noble name.
P.S. How about the Bolton flags? it is literally a picture of someone being tortured.
Sansa’s testimony was incredible. Now Little Finger has put himself in a pretty awesome situation. Sansa’s story could not have gone better for him.
I loved the beetle conversation, it has kept me thinking for a lil while. Though I’m not sure why they did it, it did give the imp a chance to show how compassionate he is by not killing the bug he had and how he couldn’t understand useless violence, even it is only a beetle. It could also just be a metaphor for how the GoT world works. (powerful > weak)
Kinda feel bad for Lord Friendzone. It will be interesting to see what he does with his time now.
The fight was great. I was honestly woozy when I got up after it was over. TV has never given me the feeling I had after the Mountains thumbs went a little deeper that made the Viper produce the most horrifying scream ever. EVER. After the camera panned out and the episode ended, I got up lightheaded, with limited balence and exited the room. It wasn’t until someone asked me if I saw the preview for next week that I realized I was so distraught that I didn’t stick around for them. :smack:
The Mountain will be dead soon. With all the poison foreshadowing going on and with a name like the Viper, I have no doubt his spear tip was poisonous. A friend at work who re-watched the episode only hardened my belief by telling me there was someone “wiping down his blades”:dubious:
I really hope Tyrian can wiggle out of this somehow. If he does, he NEEDS to get his ass out of Kings Landing immediately.

“House of Blue Lips”, LOL. I was in a play called “House of Blue Leaves” once, is that a reference?

I was actually thinking of the theme restaurant/music place, House of Blues, co-founded by Dan Ackroyd. They’re still around, right?

The creature Tyrion picked up and released was not a beetle. It was a wood louse or sow bug. Just a nitpick-

Around here we call them pillbugs. They don’t bite people, but they can damage flowers and plants with their munching: http://citybugs.tamu.edu/files/2010/06/pillbug-small.jpg

Just to nitpick back, I called it a bug.

It’s actually not even an insect. It’s a crustacean.

As long as it’s not a goddamned potato.

Is it part dragon though?

Yes. But not the good parts.
