I think we will hear the horns of Stannis’ army to begin next week’s episode, saving Sansa from Ramsay.
Littlefinger cares nothing for Sansa. She’s simply a means to an end.

I think he cares for her so long as she is useful. That usefulness may or may not end when Stannis attacks Winterfell. The notion that Baelish has had a master plan from the beginning is wrong. He wants to increase his power, and he adapts his plans when ever events warrant it.
Sansa didn’t really show resolve, she just had a little bit of cattiness with Miranda and showed disgust at Theon. The only time she ever showed any intelligence or cunning was when she lied to protect Littlefinger. She is still such a child in a way the other Stark children are not.
Littlefinger is playing chess and everyone else is playing checkers. I don’t think what he told Cersei is his actual plan, it would not be like him to lead an army to fight Stannis. It is too direct and not subtle.
I am not sure of what Cersei’s plan is. Anything happening to Margery or Loras means open war with House Tyrell who is supplying Kings Landing with all of the food they need.
Were those faces sculptures or were they magically preserved actual faces? It was so dark I couldn’t tell.
Jaqen says Arya isn’t going to become no one, but will become someone else. So, she’ll assume a new identity (as part of assassin training?), but not actually become a face-changer?
He needs lessons on the proper church/king relationship. Unfortunately, Henry VIII and Tywin aren’t available.
Same thought here. If Sansa was marrying Prince Charming or at least Prince Not Psychotic, that scene would have fit perfectly in a more conventional fantasy story, just as it was.
It’s the best kind of plan. No matter what happens, he gets to align with either or neither party, after the fact. If Stannis/Bolton looks particularly strong after Winterfell, Littlefinger can join him against the Lannisters. If they are both in poor shape, he can keep his deal with Cersei.
My money’s on an alliance consisting of:
Stannis+pro-Stark Northmen
Littlefinger+knights of the Vale
The suspiciously absent Blackfish+pro-Tully Riverlands guys
The Tyrells
Vs.
The nearly broke Lannisters/the Crown
The Freys
The Lovejoys? Maybe they could be promised the North, Cersei’s got nobody else to give it to.
Dorne is a wild card. Maybe they throw in with somebody, maybe they say “Screw it” and secede.
She thinks she’s winning at checkers.
Littlefinger’s plan is nothing more convoluted than “cause chaos –> take advantage of the situation –> profit”, just because he is good at adapting to whatever happens doesn’t mean he has some sort of master plan were he predicted everything that’s happened so far.
I can’t see Stannis forming an alliance with Littlefinger. I see a meeting between them consisting of Baelish explaining in great detail what sorts of deals he can make and how helpful he’d be to Stannis, and then Stannis burning hanging him as a traitor.
If Littlefinger bends the knee and swears the Vale’s fealty, I can perhaps see it.
Hardly! Think of the children! Won’t somebody please think of the children of the forest?
Good episode. I guess Jorah and Tyrion are tricking the slavers to giving them a free ride to Danaerys where they will presumably be dispatched. Way to make lemons into lemonade. Loved Tyrion’s line “guess again!”
I so wanted Sansa to have a knife hidden up her sleeve. She spent a while fiddling with it and I really hoped she was psyching herself up to stab Ramsey in the neck. Unfortunately, that’s not what we got, but I still think Ramsey is going to get a comeuppance soon.
I agree that Cersei is being a major idiot. In the trial, she had a smirk on her face like she had won. This is bad for the Tyrells, but she’s definitely going to get caught in the blast. She’s underestimating the Tyrells and the fanatics and it’s going to seriously mess her up. Cersei is putting the final nail in the Lannister family coffin, and she doesn’t seem to even realize it. Of course, this final slap in the face to the Tyrells might still destabilize things sufficiently that they can’t salvage the situation. Something tells me Cersei would still consider this a win; she’d rather toss the whole pie out the window if she can’t have a slice.
So it looks like the Jacen is going to start Arya’s training, presumably so she can settle her accounts and give herself fully to the Many-Faced God. And wouldn’t you know it, one of her marks is sailing to Braavos as we speak. I’m looking forward to that.
How does Cersei have any power NOW? Isn’t Tommen and Margery king and queen, why is Cersei still queen regent?
And how does causing chaos in King’s Landing benefit her or Tommen? Her son is already the freaking king, does she expect to what become queen regent again?
Why did Olenna even meet with Cersei and not Tommen? Why was Cersei the one to broker the deal with giving the fanatics authority to arrest even royalty, is she basically acting as the hand of the king?
The whole situation is bizarre and makes Cersei look VERY stupid.
You know, the more I think about it, the more I think Cersei might know exactly what she’s doing. She knows that the Lannister mines haven’t produced gold in a while, and she knows that the crown can’t repay its debt to the Iron Bank. She may very well understand how completely screwed she is no matter what, and she’s actively choosing to just take the kingdom down with her. She might see two options: fade into obscurity shortly before the fall of the Lannister family, or go out in a blaze of glory while mortally wounding the major rival family.
Still, that would require crediting her with more intelligence and foresight than I think she has. It does seem more likely that she’s just fighting desperately to hold on to some measure of power, not realizing that she was in trouble by the start of Season 4 and was irreparably screwed the instant that crossbow bolt hit Tywin’s chest.
At the wedding, Theon was allowed for the first time in a very long time to be Theon Greyjoy and not get punished for it. It was a reminder that he is not really Reek, because Reek cannot give Sansa away at a wedding. They needed someone of Theon’s status, and this was an affirmation of his intrinsic worth despite everything Ramsey has been telling him. Part of his identity as he stated it was “Ward of Eddard Stark” which was a reminder to himself of what the Starks really meant to him, that Eddard was the one who treated him as a son which his father never did even after his return.
This would be his first toe-hold in regaining his identity and fighting back against Ramsey, though I’m sure it will take until episode 10 to do it. Maybe he will turn on Ramsey in some kind of pivotal moment in the coming battle that will make him the savior of Winterfell.
shakes fist at sky
Spell check!
Or maybe brain cloud.
I totally disagree. His life revolved around his love for Sansa’s mother, and he reported at least part of his affection on Sansa. I’m convinced Littlefinger is the most reliable (and efficient) ally Sansa has.
He plays dangerous games, but I’m 1000% certain he won’t let her down. He’s totally unreliable except wrt two people in the world : Catelyn, and now Sansa.
Sansa is right now at extreme risk from Stannis and his forces, there is no way to reliably protect her should his assault on Winterfell succeed.
And then he plans(maybe?) to attack the place with his own troops.
And even if Sansa survives both those events without ending up raped and murdered, how does he plan to protect her from Cersei(assuming she hasn’t done herself in).
I can’t believe he cares about Sansa after this.
During the whole she has never displayed the slighest trace of subtlety or long term planning (an it showed again in the exchange with Littlefinger : again, no plan, no idea about what she should do, actually not seeming to think she shoul do anything). Maybe she thinks that with both Tyrell kids as hostages (except not held by her) and daddy Tyrell away, nothing will happen. Well…as long as the queen of thorns is alive, something will happen. Something bad, especially since she doesn’t have a single capable advisor, or even just vaguely reliable suppport (maybe Dr Frankenstein could be vaguely helpful, and the handful of guys from the king’s guard. That’s about it. And even them will drop them like a hot coal if things turn badly).
I got the giggles during the Sand Snakes’ fight. It had a kind of teen-girl-assassin ninjas vibe (which was funny enough), and there were some visible editing flubs.
I wonder if he’s going to swoop in after the Stannis-Bolton fight and marry Sansa.
Marrying her after saving her from and killing Ramsay would neatly tie the north up, since Sansa’s the only known living, non-bastard Stark. And and at this point, if Littlefinger treats her with even a smidgen of decency, it’ll be a win for the poor girl.
There’s no reason to believe that either side (Bolton or Stannis) would want to harm her. Both will presumably try to keep her alive. Of course, there’s a risk inherent in any assault/battle (and that’s why I said Littlefinger is playing dangerous games), but it’s not like she’s going to be on the front line.
Maybe, but again, he’s not going to let his men kill/rape her.
Protect her from what? The north might be held by Stannis+Littlefinger or Bolton+ Littlefinger, or, more likely IMO by Sansa+Littlefinger. What could Cersei do? Remind sternly Littlefinger that he promised to deliver her head on a pike?
After what? The marital rape? I don’t think that’s something Littlefinger is going to pay much atttention to. Is goal isn’t to preserve her chastity, but to ultimately rule (presumably along with Sansa. I can see a third marriage for her).
Battles are inherently unpredictable, not to mention if put up against the wall Ramsey might get suspicious and decide to flay Sansa or something before LF’s troops can save her. Cersei is enough of a loose cannon to promise someone else the north if they bring the heads of Sansa and LF should he refuse her.
I’m saying all of this is so inherently unpredictable and risky LF can’t care about her.
The face storage facility looked very inefficient. Lots of wasted space and you need ladders to get to most of the faces. Do the faceless men just use the face? I would think you would need to include any part that could be exposed, i.e. the whole skin.
Unless you are immune, fighting with daggers covered in poison is really stupid.
Were there any scenes between Jamie and Oberon last season?
The did not give any indication of who was at the wedding. You would think that some of the local lords would be there. The whole point is to legitimize the Boltons in the eyes of the north.
Little finger has successfully cut of help from the South for the Boltons. He gets evenge for Cat and he can participate in the fighting and still look like an ally of both Stannis as well as the Lanisters.
I think the prophecy at the beginning said that Cersei will see all of her children get a crown and then die. Somehow Tommen is going to get killed soon because of her.
