This is for the discussion of the TV show as its own entity. The books do not exist in this thread. No book comparisons, references, anything.
The current open spoilers thread for discussion of both the books and TV show is here. More of them may open up with a different niche, but that seems to be the main one at the moment.
Xist! As much as I dislike Sansa I hope to see Rapesey dead really soon. And REALLY horribly!
Cersei really isn’t very bright. What does she expect to happen when the church turns on her? Has she completely forgotten Lancel and the brother-fuckery?
And I like the Sand Snakes. They remind me of Arya.
Yeah, Rapsey needs to die. I was hoping Theon was gonna stab him before he could rape Sansa. Cersei also needs to die. I like Granny-with-the-sharp-tongue. I expect her to get some payback…locking up the queen was not smart.
Overall, I enjoyed the episode. When it ended, I was surprised the time had passed so quickly.
I feel like there has hardly ever been a fictional character more deserving of comeuppance than Cersei. There may be others who have committed more heinous acts or been more cruelly monstrous, but her defining characteristic seems to be she is not nearly as smart or clever as she thinks she is. Okay, it was decent maneuvering up to this point, but how does she think this is going to play out next? Margaery out of the picture while she rules happily ever after pulling Tommen’s strings? Even if she can escape blame, the Lannisters need Tyrell support, and without a stake in rulership they have no incentive to keep the deal going. And when the religious nuts finish rounding up all the sodomites, who does she think they’ll go after next? With Cersei at the helm, house Lannister isn’t long for the world, I suspect.
So, why is the king so inept? Does the church really have the power to arrest the queen? I know Tommen is a pussy and all, but he really should have had is king’s guard step in and stop that from happening. He’s king. Who is going to stop him?
Last scene was just off somehow, unless we’re supposed to think Sansa is faking her emotional state to manipulate Ramsey or because he finds it entertaining.
If that isn’t true then the writers seem to just get off on torturing Sansa.
WTF is Littlefinger’s plan here? Are we to assume he doesn’t give a shit about Sansa and is planning to turn her over or kill her in his conquest of Winterfell?
It certainly seems that Littlefinger’s plan is to have Stannis and Roose destroy each other and then come sweep in and be the savior of the North. Cersei appoints him Warden of the North, and then he controls Winterfell and the Vale.
Didn’t he also get some concession in the Riverlands as a result of brokering the Tyrell-Lannister alliance?
With the previous scenes of Sansa showing resolve(how she told off Miranda and Theon), it seemed odd for her to suddenly realize this whole scheme involves sex with Ramsey. I felt she should have at least demanded Theon leave too, so I was wondering if she was just playing him.
Yea I wonder if Littlefinger is just going to throw Sansa under the bus, or if he has some further scheme.
Littlefinger’s plan is starting to get absurdly convoluted BTW, so he saved Sansa just so he could give her to the Bolton’s and use that as a pretext to attack after Stannis to take Winterfell with Cersei’s blessing? How far back does this plan go?
The actress is 19, but the character is younger. I think some countries GoT airs in have restrictions on what you can show underage characters doing, even if the actress is an adult. This was apparently a consideration in determining how old Danerys needed to be in the first season.
I don’t think this particular plan is all that complicated. Set two enemies against each other and clean up the mess is a pretty old strategy.
As far as his scheming in general, the oldest plan of his that we know of is killing Jon Arryn and blaming it on the Lannisters. That came to fruition, what, three years ago?
