Game of Thrones 7.06 "Beyond The Wall" 8/20/17

Nope. You are mostly incorrect. And those two words are pronounced differently where I’m from.

I obsessively counted the party, when they were conveniently spread out in a line. Sometimes I got ten, sometimes nine, never higher. Though who is to say the camera scan didn’t just happen to end (or start) before everyone present was shown. Anyway, the way the wights were so selective in going for the red shirts… yeah.

Another minor detail that bothered me: there’s Dany in her nice striped fur coat, but these guys haven’t invented hoods and/or gloves? Regardless of whether Drogon flies an 50 mph or 300 mph or 10 mph – he’s up in the wintry cold air that is blasting into her for at the very least five hours, yes? And her hair doesn’t get reduced to a rat’s nest AND her hands never get so numb she can’t hold on to that neck spine??

Tyrion invented a saddle so Bran could ride a horse. He can’t come up with anything to help Dany?

Scouts? In Westeros? You have to be kidding. :stuck_out_tongue:

That would require something resembling tactics.

I counted ~11 or 12, maybe more. There were 9 or 10 “main guys” and 3 or 4 “guys dragging shit”.

You clearly were not obsessive enough.

From your link:

You might want to read your link a little more closely, particularly the bit that says:

Uh, yeah. That’s what I said. Maybe YOU need to read it a little closer. I used the standard spelling and you corrected me.

I think we can all make deux with this discussion being moved to another topic.

But you didn’t. And my correction IS correct, and the article you posted says so, clearly enough that another poster also quoted the same lines that say so.

If you still think that article says you’re right and I’m wrong, then I give up.

It’s a shame that it’s too cold north of the Wall for overnight condensation to make dew on the grass in the mornings.

No. I want to be right and will argue with anyone who corrects me for pages and pages.

Ravens are faster than SMS (they have been all series long) and dragons are obviously capable of supersonic flight. And The Dirty 1/2 Dozen were ice-fishing during their wait.

Oh, and hypothermia doesn’t exist in Westeros.

Will Benjen get one more deus ex machina, or is he really now zombie Benjen?

I was toying with the idea of next season being a 3-way, with zombie Jon on zombie dragon vs Dany vs Cersei. Now that would have been a twist.

Lastly, now Jon wants to “bend a knee”?! Should instead have said, “I told you what was going on, bitch. And you’re worried about me fucking bending a fucking knee. Get fucking bent!”

I think that’s reflecting Tormund’s speech to him about Mance.

My money is on Sansa with both Dany and Jon dead. Dany can name Jon as her heir with or without marriage. After they both die, a claim can be made for Sansa being Jon’s heir as he put her in command of the North in his place. Tyrion, Varys and the other advisors might support her in the right circumstances. It would be a fitting end to her story arc from a spoiled princess to victim to a political player.

Was any attempt made to resurrect Thoros? I’m not sure if The Words were said prior to just giving up and burning him?
Kind of a dick move by Berric if not. I know he’s not a priest but he’s been brought back 6 times and it’s just a couple of sentences. Try at least.

So sad that the white walkers do not have access to the DOS game Gorillas.

The rest of us realize you can use parabolic arcs to hit an object at any height. Try it with a balled up piece of paper and a wastebasket!

ETA: the white walker’s shot actually was basically straight. Certainly looked like he had the strength to just throw it at drogon with little drop.

I used to love GoT but it’s been turning into generic fantasy crap for a while now. I think someone at HBO got a boner for a big dragon vs dragon scene. It’s too comic bookish for me. If the dragons are 1. fire made flesh and 2. magical how are they even susceptible to zombification? Added to all of the other stupid, stupid decisions it’s driving me nuts.

Benjen survives years beyond the wall only to appear for two minutes and die again :smack:

GRRM had flaws but I think he’d have put such nonsense to paper.

I has a sad :frowning:

Benjen did not survive, he’s one of the zombies that did not get turned because the children of the forest got to him in time. He already explained this the last time we saw him.

For a show that was known for giving gut punches to it’s viewers it really hasn’t had one for a long time now. Everything has been going too well for the good guys.
Even though it would have been devastating I think the show would have really returned to form if the entire party north of the wall had died in this episode. Wiping out a slew of main characters in one fell swoop to abruptly change the entire plot direction would have been very much in line with classic GOT.
One dead dragon just doesn’t make up for it.

I don’t recall that, but I’m not doubting you. I’ll chalk it up to another poorly resolved plot point.

I do still like the show, despite my complaints, I just wish it were better.

Too many idiot balls are bouncing around on the show now.

I haven’t read the thread yet so maybe everyone is saying this also but this episode wasn’t bad per se just extremely predictable. Also I think Jon has been saved by one last minute rescue too many in this series. This is what, the third? Fourth?

I felt bad for the dragon but dramatic rules said one of them had to die here. And it was so clear the Night King would raise it that I expected Jon to tell Dany to try and roast the body before it sank to avoid it.

I think they wold have been better served to consolidate this and next week’s into one giant two hour finale.
