Yes, he was the first in something like 1000 years to actually kill one. It was awesome, too.
I hope he survives tonight and kills some more.

I don’t think armor is THAT effective. It might stop a knife from a tiny children of the forest, but the hound with a dragon glass axe will go through a white walker and his horse.
Yes. But that White Walker was nearly naked, as were others seen in the first three seasons. Sam stabbed it in the back with a dragonglass dagger.
After that, we started to see them wearing armor, possibly after realizing that men now had dragonglass weapons (or had rediscovered them).
Dragonglass arrows and other weapons would only be effective against White Walkers if you managed to hit them in the head or other unarmored place.
Maybe, but I sure wouldn’t bet on it.
Will the archers at Winterfell aim primarily at the White Walkers? Because that could have the greatest impact, given that some wights will go down for every White Walker that’s killed. On the other hand, the White Walkers may be smart enough to stay back and let the wights lead the assault.
That would be the best strategy, since they know that taking out a White Walker takes out his wights. (However, in the Cave of the Three-eyed Raven killing the White Walker didn’t seem to drop any of the wights.) But that depends on a tough head shot. The Walkers should wear helmets, but they won’t because they look cooler without them.
The Jon Snow rule of combat. Maybe the Night King is a Stark, after all.
It’s not just Jon. It’s pretty much a rule that major characters (but not grunts) don’t wear or take off their helmets in the middle of battle so you can see who they are. Even Tyrion at the Battle of Blackwater, who should know better.
Sure, but I don’t think Jon even owns a helmet. Most of the other warriors have at least worn a helmet at some point in the show, but Jon just relies on his hair to protect him no matter what.
I think you may be right. I googled images of “Jon Snow helmet” and got none that show him wearing one. I don’t think he even wore a hat even when Beyond the Wall in a blizzard.
The was an interview with Kit who said during a shoot early on some place really cold, he asked for a hat between takes and was told no, his hair was important. Which seems a bit ridiculous. Don’t they have hairdressers?
Sure there are set hairdressers, but a hat is going to mess up someone’s hairdo in a way that’s going to be difficult to make it look the same. It’s a continuity issue, in other words.
Or like “ravens” who can be trained to serve as carrier pigeons and have the endurance to fly the length of South America in a day or two.
I’m very disappointed we didn’t see the Hound doing more damage with his DG axe.
