That was season 1, and yes those threads were so full of bitching it was almost unbearable. That’s why we need the draconian rules.
No, that why we needED the rules.
One went off on me because I wondered how they were going to handle the pubescant actors who play Arya and Bran aging over the break when their plotlines resume immediately. Apparently that lets them know that Arya and Bran are going to be around next season and their plotlines resumed.
I wanted so badly to reply ‘The actor playing Joffrey’s already through puberty so they don’t have to worry about that… not that they’d need to since he’s going to be out of there really soon anyway’, but didn’t.
I get why the rules need to be pretty strict in the GoT threads. There are still people who feel the need to push things too far. But you’d think I link to the throne that Martin envisioned spoils absolutely nothing and should be perfectly acceptable. But it wouldn’t be. People would panic. Spoiler purists can be nutty.
Dude, you’re a big reason why the rules are still necessary.
For what it’s worth, I like the TV show’s throne better. Martin’s is too… too.
None of the scenes where the queen regent, or anyone else, advises Joffrey would work. They’d have to shout up at him - which sounds like a Monty Python sketch.
Why, because I argue against them? I had ONE post in their threads, it was by accident, and it didn’t spoil anything at all. Several were complaining about the torture scenes, I agreed they were gratuitous and mentioned the author didn’t show the actual torture in his books. The Unsullied jumping on me as I dared to inadvertently mention the books as a side note caused far more derailing than the mention did. That’s why we no longed need the rule. Cause the jumping on people for disobeying the special rules cause more disruption that the actual problem.
I want to apologize to all for going along with this hijack. It has a place, just not here. I suggest anyone who wishes to start a thread in the proper forum.
Sorry, too easy to get sucked in.
