Game of Thrones Season 4: [Fully And Openly Spoiled - See Sticky]

Yup. So much for my theory. It was so awesomely good, I don’t even care I was completely wrong. Bring on the killings!

Great episode, the trial was handled very well. Only improvement I would have suggested would be to end it with Oberyn’s declaration that he will be Tyrion’s champion. But I guess they have a little more to setup before that happens?

Shae’s demeanor was different from the books though. She wasn’t preening, showing off for the court. In the book she reminded me of a streetwalker giving an interview after being caught with a low-level politician – someone enjoying their 15 minutes – smug and self-satisfied, enjoying the attention.

In the show, she’s getting no kind of thrill from this. I can see Tyrion thinking Shae was forced to lie and being angry about that rather than seeing a betrayal. Or even believing that she was so hurt by his final words that she’s lashing out.

If he doesn’t want to kill her, he doesn’t have to.

But he’s pretty pissed, so he probably will.

Yeah, I was really disappointed they didn’t do that. I was hoping to get the scene where Tywin begrudgingly accepts, Cersei happily nominates the Mountain, Tyrion looks around the room for Bronn, who shakes his head and backs off… then Oberyn stands up “I’ll stand for the dwarf!” Roll credits. But maybe that would be too long to fit in (and they’ll want the chance to remind everyone who the Mountain is).

There’s also the problem of fixing Oberyn’s motivation to fight for Tyrion, since in the TV show, Tywin promised him the Mountain’s head.

The Asha (or Yara or whatever her name is) scene was kinda awkward, but I suppose I’m down for changes to the storyline if they bring more characters together and add more action scenes. A lot of plotlines/characters tend to just peter out (such as the mutineers in Craster’s just sitting around on their asses for a book before getting killed by Coldhands).

Bronn has to refuse Tyrion first.

The Titan of Braavos was a very nice surprise.

Maybe we’ll get a scene next week where, after The Mountain is called for the Crown’s champion, Tywin tells Oberyn that he won’t get The Mountain, since it was contingent upon rendering a guilty verdict against Tyrion, and he can’t do that anymore.

So then Oberyn does the same as in the book, where re realized being Tyrion’s champion is the best way to get revenge on The Mountain.

Speaking of next week, I’m surprised “Only Cat” is so soon. But that’s cool, it’s such an awesome scene…I hope they don’t fuck it up.

From what I’ve read about online, the major events for the remaining episodes are:

Next Week (episode 7): Only Cat, possibly the “death” of The Hound (in the preview, there was a shot of him without armor on, so maybe Ayra sees this as the best time to kill him.)

Episode 8: The Trial by Combat. Not sure what else…possibly a goatherd with a dead boy? They might want to save that for next season, though. Dany’s storyline is already sped up by like a book and a half.

Episode 9: battle at The Wall. I think they’re just doing one in the show, as opposed to the small raid first, and then the big one. We’ll have to have some scene with Davos and Stannis in Episode 7 or 8 where they confirm going north…they had their scene last season with Melisandre confirming that The Red God wants him to, but the show-watchers will need a reminder or they’ll be confused as fuck as to why Stannis shows up out of nowhere.

Episode 10: Tyrion’s escape, killing of Shae and Tywin, and I hope, really hope, that the episode 10 “stinger” will be the Lady Stoneheart reveal.

That’s how it looks. When Jon told the council at the wall that the wildlings plan was to attack from behind as Mance Raydar hit from the front, I knew there was probably only going to be one battle since that’s not their strategy in the book. Two battles might have been repetitive for TV, so I’m cool with that.

What’s “only cat”?

When Littlefinger throws lysa out the moon door he tells her that, as in Cat is the only one that he ever cared about.

When Littlefinger pushes Lysa out of the Moon Door.

Lysa might just’ve been threatening Sansa at the Moon Door; Littlefinger might not push her out as early as next week.

Nice CGI for the harbor of Braavos. Loved the scene at the Iron Bank - good on Davos for being so persuasive! The top banker was played by the same actor who plays Mycroft Holmes on Sherlock, BTW.

But who is Littlefinger going to pin the murder on? The musician guy hasn’t shown his face, and seems like we’d need a little bit of buildup before Littlefinger could convince everyone that he’s the one who pushed her.

Thanks, guys.

I didn’t remember him saying that.

I hope they keep the dialogue on these lines exact:

In other news, I just picked up lunch today and the guy running the register had a big tattoo on his forearm that said VALAR MORGHULIS.

I think there are some Sullied in the non-spoiler thread. Where are they getting the idea that The Mountain will be a champion? He hasn’t been seen in ages and he’s supposed to be still out pillaging, isn’t he? Just because Oberyn wants to kill him doesn’t mean he’ll show up at the trial.

He’s in the trailer for next week’s episode chopping people up with his great sword.

Yup.

And did you see this pic from the President’s speech at the recent White House Correspondents Assn. dinner?: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/51/The_Westeros_Wing.jpg

Could work. I was thinking that there are a lot of big moments to fit into the last four episodes. I’m still really hoping that they have Ygritte’s team attack separately, more personal that way, before the huge threat of Mance’s army taken out by Stannis.

The musician guy from the books (Marillion, I believe) was the one whose tongue was removed by Joffrey S2, S3. I think any random person hanging around would do. Although he might work as well, as he couldn’t yell out “Fuck that. I didn’t push her. Petyr did!”

As to where he is? Maybe he’s hiding behind another door, another surprise for Littlefinger from Lysa. I envision dozens of Scooby Doo doors filled with increasingly ludicrous things.

The episode titles on IMDB give away who the trial by combat is going to involve. That’s a bit silly if you ask me since everywhere i’ve discussed this episode it seems to be main object of discussion.
