Work something out like what? Stannis would have to set his wife aside to marry her, and I don’t see Dany agreeing to marry the Usurper’s brother anyway. I don’t think Daenerys is much of a compromiser. Stannis either, for that matter.
Hey I just realized something. Isn’t Gregor a kingslayer too?
Rhaegar dies. Jaime kills Aerys. Who is king now? Baby Aegon. For about 5 minutes, then Gregor smashes his head. Then Viserys becomes the heir until Robert banishes him and claims the throne. Is that right?
The Mountain wasn’t a Kingsguard at the time. That’s the major reason that Jaime’s killing of Aerys is considered so heinous.
That’s only if you believe in “kingons” which travel faster than the Speed of Light.
The same “kingons” which made Edward V king, even tho he was never crowned, never ruled, reigned, and was declared illegitimate at that time.
o/ There's kingons off the starboard bow, starboard bow, starboard bow! There's kingons off the starboard bow! Scrape 'em off, Jaime! o/
Fair enough, but I suppose on paper at least, the fact that the lords of the seven kingdoms (well, six of them) submitted to Aegon would give the Targaryens some sort of on-paper legitimacy.
(And I’m talking strictly legal niceties here, not moral legitimacy, etc.)
Yeah, and she has too big an army (and dragons) to be coerced into it.
Also, though, isn’t Danerys sterile because of the witch’s curse? So the line would end with her.
There’s speculation based on the end of ADWD that she’s not sterile, but that remains to be seen.
Here’s GOT seasons one through three summarized in nine (!) minutes. Take a deep breath…
That was cool. I guess they didn’t have time (long story short) to explain that everyone thinks Bran and Rickon are dead. They also said Cersei married the gay Knight but she didn’t.
True. Promised to each other, or even kinda engaged, but not married.
So I finally saw episodes 9 & 10. Overall, I think they concluded the season rather well, though one probably needs to see them as I did, right after one another. Episode 9 left me very, very cold: I liked Ygritte in neither the books nor the series, I wasn’t invested in Pip, and the battle scenes, while well-produced, were indeed slightly confusing. Episode 10, by contrast, was very well done.
In fact, seeing the show, I’m mainly worried about reading future books. If the show didn’t need Coldhands and doesn’t need Jojen Reed anymore, how necessary will they be for Martin? Same thing with all the other smaller changes: if Tyrion doesn’t sow doubt in Jamie’s mind about Cersei’s fidelity, what happens? If Tyrion doesn’t believe himself completely betrayed by all his family, what happens? If Varys leaves with Tyrion, who kills Kevan Lannister? What does it mean that Brienne knows Arya’s alive?
I’m glad that the show’s eliminating things that are not necessary for the plot (here’s hoping we’ll never need to see the idiotic Martell-roast subplot), but there’s bound to be some spoiling of the books going on with all the alterations made here.
Have we a “prognosis for Season 5” thread? I’ll be really interested to see how the show handles the move to the entirely new scenery of Dorne, with an all-new cast and all-new problems…
I’ve pretty muched stopped worrying about how ‘faithful’ the show is to the books. I enjoy both a great deal, and I’ve been enjoying the show more and more since I’ve come to understand that it takes place in a separate universe, with separate events. It also lets me enjoy the ‘surprises’ on the show more.
I kind of see it like two versions of the King Arthur myth. Both can be enjoyable, even if they differ on many of the details.
Jojen is almost certainly dead in the books, so I don’t think that specific change will be an issue.
Is he now? I thought (but I’ve not re-read Dance with Dragons) that he was with Bran and Meera in the…whatever it is, moping. The Wiki of Ice and Fire confirms it, though it suggests a bad prophecy for his return to House Reed.
There’s a theory that the paste fed to Bran, which contains something that looks like veins and blood, was made from the deceased Jojen.
I don’t hold to this theory (it’s possible, I just don’t think there’s nearly enough evidence), and I think it’s far from as certain as Snarky_Kong states.
Yeah, I completely missed that when reading book 5 recently. It’s not much to go on, but it could be proven true in the next book.
So, no Lady Stoneheart it seems.

They might just be trying to psych out the fans.
