I’d love to see Tommen summoning Great-Uncle Kevan back to the Small Council as his Master of War behind Cersei’s back. He made it quite clear he’s who he’s willing to serve.
Just saw this 2000 Irish short film (just 11 minutes long), The Second Death, with three future GOT stars in it. Enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9-T10032vs
Better yet, nobody should make any posts in those threads about the books! The OPs, and our custom and practice here, couldn’t be more clear.
Okay, that was brutal. I was so hoping that Sansa had a knife or two up her sleeve.
The Sand Snake scene was a cross between ninja turtles and Cat Woman. Felt like another, and far inferior, show altogether.
The writers wrote themselves into that rape scene the minute they sent Sansa to Winterfell. I’m not sure if that’s cool, but we’ll see.
Uggh.
Yep, not digging the madcap adventures of Bronn and Jaime. Look at the pickle they’re in now!
Yeah, definitely wasn’t expecting that (if anything, I expected Theon to finally ‘shake it off’ and help her escape, possibly even with Brienne/Pod showing up).
The lack of any actual wounds was what made it fell out of place, for me. Jaime now successfully getting through two fights is a bit hard to swallow as well, his training with Bronn or not. Also didn’t help that, as a book reader, I was also expecting Myrcella to get wounded.
I did like Bronn’s last line to one of the Sand Snakes, though.

Actually, the whole scene was weak from the get-go… the setup of Myrcella/Tristane seemed exceptionally poor. Have they shown Tristane before? Did they even mention his name? I’m not sure how a non-book reader would have any real clue who that guy is supposed to be. And I can see the Sand Snakes being able to sneak in due to the palace gardens due to Ellaria, but how the heck do Bronn and Jaime just waltz right in? No guards?
I did like Bronn’s last line to one of the Sand Snakes, though.
That and “The dwarf lives until we find a cock merchant!”
No wounds? I saw otherwise. I guess Bronn is going to die, slowly. That really sucks.
Indeed! I’m afraid Bronn is not long for this fictional world.
And I didn’t even think about Myrcella’s wound until after the fight was over and she hadn’t gotten it. Why didn’t she think to call out for help?
Major ugh with Sansa. I want Ramsey so, so dead, and quickly, please.
To distract myself from the ick, I’m going to focus on the verbal jabs that Littlefinger and Lady Olenna got in on Cersei. Darned if I can remember the exact wording of Littlefinger’s poke, but I’ve been giggling over ‘Famous tart Queen Cersei’ for the last hour.
I’m expecting Brienne and/or Pod to die while trying to rescues Sansa, just like the spear wives in the book.
I wanted to see Areo Hotah kill someone.
Yeah… exactly the reason I hated bringing Sansa to Winterfell plot. It kind of also minimizes her “learning at the feet of the master” of realpolitik. So she’s just now Jeyne Poole? Or even if she leads Winterfell into open revolt against the Boltons - it took rape rage to make that happen? What a mess.
I mean it still leaves open Theon rescuing Ramsey’s bride by running on top of the walls and into Stannis’s army, but let’s just say I was hoping it’d be done on Sansa’s wedding night - Ramsey could have done sick stuff with Theon with the woman he was sleeping with last episode.
With that and Jaime and Bronn going to Dorne plot, I think the show writers’ change from the books have not gone very well.
I mean we even have Jorah and Tyrion on a slave ship… if we had a poll on which part of Tyrion’s journey from Dance we wanted to cut out, I’m betting it’d be slave ship part over the Griff part.
Soooo … They thought it necessary to subject Sansa to rape, and marriage to possibly the biggest monster in the series … When even the books have soared her that so far? Interesting choice.
The show is condensing many, many stories so that this story can be wrapped up before our grandchildren die of old age. I wondered as I read what was the point of Poole storyline and Jaime going to the Riverlands and that oh so long and boring boat ride. I’m not too upset with the changes.
Except for Lady Stoneheart and The Brotherhood Without Banners. Because, not only is Lady Stoneheart a cold-ass bitch of a great character but also, I believe The Hound is the silent monk and we’ll never get there the way things are going.
Well, Poole was a Theon redemption arc. Remember in the books we don’t see Theon’s torture and transformation into Reek. We see it from the other side, so the Poole stuff shows at the same time, Theon’s reduction into this creature and his redemption when he saves Jeyne.
It had to be Sansa, didn’t it? I think Jeyne was in one scene in the pilot and was never named. If it’s just Ramsay abusing a random person then that doesn’t have an emotional impact.
My only concern is that moving her there says something about where the story in the books will go. With the Greyjoys, Quentyn, and Aegon I don’t really mind it because I didn’t think any of those plots where going anywhere anyway, but Sansa will probably figure in the endgame. I know that’ll be revealed in the show before the books, but it’s unfortunate.
I haven’t read the books and I’m sorry but this thread is just too long for me to have read all the posts.
I hope it’ll be OK for me to ask, What is going on with Arya? It completely mystifies me. It would be OK if they gave us (the people who watch the TV show but have not read the books) some hints about it.
But she just keeps doing this repetitive weird stuff regarding the House of Black & White and playing this strange game and adopting a personna that has no identity?
It is all just so very bizarre that it has lost all entertainment value - at least to me. Would anyone care to guess what is going on? Or what will happen?
It just seems to me they are spending far too much time setting up whatever is going to happen with this repetetive and boring stuff she is doing. It seems to have passed the point of all interest long, long ago.
I’m guessing the show would be a whole lot better at this point if they just deleted all of her scenes. They are all just far too boring and they have no end in sight. I’m sorry if this offends any of the fans of the show who love what’s going on with her. But I just feel the need for a hint or two along the way. Otherwise, I just would like to see her die and be gone forever.
What is going on? Why is she washing copses? Why not just bury them? What is the point in washing them?
She’s training to become a face changing assassin, it’s been made fairly clear.
Ramsey abusing someone isn’t necessarily supposed to have emotional impact - it’s to show what a heartless bastard he is. And it makes Theon regain himself from his Reek-ness.
Anyways, I still don’t understand why they had to move Sansa to Winterfell prior to the Stannis v. Bolton battle. Though, who knows, maybe it’s part of the redemption of Stannis (as it seems that now Sansa is going to be for the redemption of others), which has already started, but if he liberates her from Winterfell, then he’s going to be seen as on the side of good (Sansa would bend the knee, I’m certain).
Oh, also… WTF is going on the Dorne storyline?! I mean seriously. First Jamie and Bronn just walk into the royal residences and they get there at the EXACT time that the Sand Snakes are trying to take Myrcella. What?! How laughable… and Jamie, who basically can wave around a sword and block stuff with his golden hand ends up fighting one of the Sand Snakes to a draw? How badass are they supposed to be in that case?
In the books, Jeyne Poole has hardly any more than she does in the show when she reappears as “Arya.”
