It seems that the NHL may have found a chump to buy the Coyotes and keep them in Arizona…

Thank god. The southern United States has long been a hotbed of rabid hockey fandom, where teams have thrived. I was worried the team would have to move to Canada. Ain’t no hockey fans to be found there. No sir. In Arizona, hockey isn’t just a sport. It’s a way of life. As their most famous resident, John McCain, once said “Hockey? Never heard of it.”

Looks like the penalty against Kris Letang has been rescinded. Good.

(Tangers isn’t known to be a rough player, either)

Now, we just need to get Jordan Staal well and back out on the ice.

All is right with the world, as the Leafs finally lost a game. Although they still got a point, and they probably deserved to win.

I’m a little worried about the Habs-Devils game on Thursday. I think the Devils might be due.

I love your optimism, Kenner!

As for the Leafs, they never *deserve *to win. It violates most religions and several laws of physics.

It seems Markov might be cleared to play as early as tomorrow. I’m so looking forward to seeing him back, especially on the power play! Though I’m more and more impressed with Gorges…he’s quickly becoming one of my favourite players. He just gets better and better!

Getting Gorges close to the '07 deadline might be one of Bob Gainey’s best deals as Habs GM. He’s certainly come a long way from the beginning of '07-08, when he was a frequent healthy scratch.

And I still have hope that the Habs can continue Brodeur’s and the Devils’ funk for at least one more game, especially with Price playing very well right now. But New Jersey is too good to keep playing the way they are playing right now; sooner or later they’ll start winning.

Brodeur does always seem to get up for games in his home town and, IMO, he’s been the largest part of what’s been wrong with the team. If he can start playing at even average goalie level, they’ll be fine.

Vancouver’s Rick Rypien has been [suspended indefinitely](http://blogs.thescore.com/nhl/2010/10/19/rick-rypien-loses-cool-attacks-fan-suspension-looming/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+HousesOfTheHockey+(Houses+of+the+Hockey) for attacking a fan in Minnesota. (Video embedded in link)

That has to be a minimum of 40 games. Stupid, stupid stupid.

He should have punched the guy in the head, that way it would only end up being 2 games.

They suspended him indefinitely pending a decision because the Canucks were playing another game tonight; they had to act quickly. As a Vancouver fan and a person who has a soft spot for bruisers in general, I think that this is the most idiotic thing Rypien could have ever done. Most of me hopes that they throw something extra insanely harsh at him for a penalty.

The rest of me remembers that we probably need him for the rest of the season. :frowning:

I have a love-hate relationship with Martin Brodeur.

I have a hate-hate relationship with him.

As do I, but for very different reasons, I’m sure.

Sometimes I hate being right. Brodeur is now 39-16-5 against Montreal, including a 16-8-1 record at Le Centre Bell. (Not sure if that includes the '97 playoffs, when the Devils spanked Montreal in five games.)

And Rypien has beensuspended for six games for going after that fan in Minnesota.

That’s why I hate him.

Reasons to love: great goalie, Québecois, and freaking adorable (the braces make me squee).

Daniel Alfredsson.

6 games for Rypien is too few, but I am certain that the Wild are going to get fined as well, question is will we ever find out how much?

When Stamkos was drafted 2.5 years ago, he seemed like the skinny type of kid who wouldn’t really hit his stride until he was well into his 20s (say 23 or so). Seems like I was dead wrong on that one.

I never thought I’d say this, I actively seek out Tampa Bay Lightening games!

It was a bit of a perfect storm: it was highly unlikely that the Devils would continue shooting as poorly as they had been and would start converting shots into goals; they had four days to rest, practice and prepare; and Brodeur (among others) loves playing in Montreal and has a history of success there.

I was more surprised at how the Devils took Gomez out of the game entirely… I don’t think I heard his name called once, and it’s unusual for him to go a whole game where he doesn’t make a few good rushes/passes.
