Gameboy Advance links

I have a Gameboy Advance SP. My Pal has a gameboy Advance non-SP. We need to trade PokeMon. The linkup doesn’t work. Is there a known bug or something? The only symptom is that the in-game connection doesn’t work. We both plug in the cable, turn on the Gameboys, go the connection interface, save the game as prompted, and wait for the connection… and it doesn’t come up.

So what do I do? Help please, I really want a Vulpix!

I don’t know if enough people here can help you. This should probably bei in Cafe Society anyway.

My sister and I have been able to transfer things from her Golden Sun game to another from an SP to a non-SP just fine. I know linking the two handhelds together is possible, and I don’t think that there would be a problem with the Pokemon game cartridges.

Is the cable from Nintendo or is it another brand? The one I have is Nintendo’s.

What versions of Pokemon? IIRC, certain versions can’t link with certain others, but I’m not sure where the cut-off point is.

Ruby and Sapphire. I am pretty sure they’ll link up.

Perhaps the cabling is bad, or one of our link ports is bad. Thank you for the help.
