I just purchased a Gamecube off Ebay.
It came today and works great, except one small problem. Memory Card Slot A is broken. B works fine, however.
It came with Resident Evil 4, which won’t work at all without Memory Card Slot A. I have a few questions.
Is this a common problem? The other two games it came with(Resident Evil 0 and 1) detect Slot B and give me a choice of what slot to use.
Is there any way to tell the system that Slot B is the correct slot to use as default?
Hey, I used to work at Nintendo, so let’s see how well I can recall some of that knowledge…

Nope, not a common problem at all. I’m betting the previous owner did something to render the slot inoperable, as they rarely fail of their own accord.

Nope, it’s entirely dependent upon the game, sadly. I’m surprised that RE4 (one of my favorite games) can’t look at Slot B. You may want to check the option menu, just to be sure. Most games do provide the option, but some don’t.

I’m so pissed off now!
I paid $50 for the Cube, three Resdient Evil Games, the connecting cables, and 4 memory cards just to have one minor glitch mess it up.
I guess I’ll try to get my money back and get another one. Anyone have a Gamecube they are willing to sell?
Nintendo will do repairs. Have you thought about scouring the world for a Wii? It’ll play some fantastic new games and all the cube games you love.
I’m too cheap for a Wii. I just wanted a Gamecube at a cheap price to play last gen’s games.
:sigh:
