It’s surprising that people mention some Murder, Inc. guys but not the actual leader (and my candidate overall) Albert Anastasia.
That was my pick as well. There are YouTube videos showing him being interviewed. It is one of the scariest things I have ever seen.

I think that the Iceman is more of a phony than not. Sure, he got busted for killing some people, but some of his stories don’t sound quite right. I’m thinking of the one where he walked down the street with some mystical device with cyanide in it, and just sprayed it into the face of his victim, and the victim died, and it was just thought to be a heart attack. Give me a break.
I could be wrong, tho.
As for the OP, Baby Face Nelson was my pick. I think Pretty Boy Floyd wasn’t crazy, just PO’d.
It is very hard to detect cyanide poison during autopsy unless the medical examiner knows that is exactly what he should be looking for and runs the right tests. A doctor goes over that in the video. Some sudden heart problem is way more likely.
no argument on symptoms. It’s the story. Sure, testing on some poor sap isn’t that unreasonable in the mind of a psycho, it just strikes me as false. Would you let a giant like him near you? Were there no witnesses? If the big guy walks towards you, how does he deliver the final coup? Hey, there’s a huge guy walking towards me with a syringe…I’ll just see what he wants…that kind of thing. It never hurts one in a prison to have a cold as ice personna attributed to him.

All I ever heard was that he put cyanide in his victim’s food or drink while they went to the bathroom. You don’t have to inject it.
I saw the Kuklinski interviews and I think he claimed a lot more murders than he probably committed. He was bragging. I tend not to believe the story of shooting someone in the head with a crossbow to try it out as a type of murder weapon. It should be pretty easy for the cops to check if there are any unsolved murders involving people with arrows in the forehead.
He knew a lot about many “unsolved” murders and those were probably true. However, I always wondered how he claimed to kill people with guns in public places without anyone noticing. I didn’t see any silencers in his confiscated weapons collection and guns are LOUD. There is no way he could just walk away from something like that over and over again without lots of attention.
