As far as I know, the pack are basically a group of mercenaries.
Some info here (spoilers): http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/faq.php?s=faq8#1

The Pack were a group of real mercenaries who retired to form a television/touring show (think part A-Team, part Monster Truck Rally). Being bored with soft celebrityhood, they jumped at the chance to come out of retirement to become Gargoyle hunters at (IIRC) Xantos’ expense.

Then there’s the second generation Pack, who were genetic halfbreeds (Xanatos’ doing) between the human mercenaries and the animals they emulated in their fighting styles.

I can’t wait until this comes out. Keep up the info, N9IWP!

Close. The pack was:

Hyena
Jackal
Wolf
Dingo
(and eventually) Coyote

The first four were the original mercenaries turned TV stars turned back to mercenaries. Coyote was a robot built by Xanatos to help them, and joined after they went back to being mercenaries. Coyote was destroyed by the Gargoyles, but was later rebuilt when the Pack came back as The Pack 2.0, or something. One of the members was genetically altered (Wolf) to be bigger, stronger, etc. Hyena and Jackal were made into cyborgs, and Dingo just got some exoskeleton body armor, because he liked his humanity.

Just thought I’d bump the thread now that the DVDs are out. (released Dec 6).
I usually get a worst buy gift card from work, think I will use it on this.

There before you. Preordered a copy off Amazon for my sister for Giftmas.

I didn’t know about this thread, but someone else told me. At work. Unfortunately for my neighboring coworkers. The squee was most likely audible down to the end of the hall. Dogs would’ve barked if they’d been anywhere near me.

I saw this series in the original run and loved it…wonderful voice acting, great story telling, twists and turns and characterization…it all came together, and beautifully.

I especially loved some of the character twists. I won’t spoil it, but there is one very major one that, if you’ve been watching carefully from the beginning, you can guess at. All the hints are there. But most people flat out miss them. Some of the show’s writers and creators were hanging out on the fan mailing lists while it was first running - a few fans figured it out ahead of time (me among them) and then had to keep quiet until the relevant episode finally aired. Ah, happy times…

You have me curious. Are you talking Owen/Puck?

That’s the one! A neat twist, and nicely foreshadowed.

Not that there weren’t other good twists. But I think that was THE major one.

I loved how even Demona (one of the bad guys) was given a believable backstory that explained her motivations and why she felt and acted as she did.

Quick question for all - has Laura San Giacomo been properly credited as Fox on the DVDs? I haven’t bought them yet and I was curious. Apparently she didn’t want a credit when the series was running, but I wonder if now it’s gone to DVD she’s changed her mind.

I quite missed it when the show was on. Then again, I was, what 13 years old? Time to bone up on the DVD viewing for clues
