My parents have an electric-gas fireplace with a switch on the side that turns it on and off. IIRC, when the fireplace was new the switch worked instantly, but as it got older, there started to be a delay between turning it on and the fire igniting. For a while we got around this by switching it off and back on a few times in a row, which seemed to work, but now it seems you’re stuck waiting for perhaps 5 minutes for it to light itself.
I like to take lawn mowers, printers, whatever apart to fix them; does this sound like a 10 minute job I can do involving cleaning a part, or would they need a pro to mess with gas pipes and such?
