Gastritis. Ugh.

I woke up Friday morning with a crampy pain in my stomach. I figured I’d eaten something a little off or had some gas that needed to work its way through. I went to the gym, then work, didn’t eat much dinner, and went to sleep.

Saturday morning it was hurting enough that I skipped my workout and made an appointment with CentraCare. I threw up after lunch, but it wasn’t much and I was able to keep the rest of my lunch down. I spent $40 for the doctor to push on my belly and tell me to go to the hospital for tests. :smack:

Not really wanting to spend God knows how long at the ER, we went, with me privately thinking I would give them an hour to call me into an exam room and if they didn’t we’d leave. Well, they called me back in time.

After some bloodwork and a CAT scan, they diagnosed me with gastritis. I got some meds, one of which I have to take an hour before eating which is a pain to figure out on the weekends, and I made an appointment today with a gastroenterologist.

I left a message with my gyno, since I have a hysterectomy scheduled next week, and I wasn’t sure if this was going to have to push that surgery back. The ER doc said it wouldn’t, but I’m going to double check.

It’s more of an upset tummy feeling, with occasional pierces of a strong stabby cramp. I haven’t had any more nausea, but it’s enough of a discomfort to let me know it’s there.

So, yeah, yuck.

Ugh, I had that once - started at a comic book convention, I still blame the convention center hot dog. It was awful, you have my sympathies. (Mine just required IIRC some antibiotics and some other pills, forget what.)

Well, I don’t overindulge in alcohol and I am not a frequent user of OTC pain relievers. I’m thinking this is stress related.

Yuck.

Even w/o NSAID / alcohol, you may wind up on acid suppressant medications if that’s a factor.

I assume you still have your gallbladder, right? If so, have they ruled that out as a cause of the symptoms?
