Geeks and black sneakers

I like black sneaks. I like black socks. I like black jeans. I like black shirts. I like black nail polish. (That’s what I’m wearing now, except the shoes.)

Black never goes out of fashion.

Goth boys give me a - um, they excite me.

Black shoes, black coat, black hat, cadillac, yeah the boys a time bomb.
Sorry, couldnt pass that one up. (that was Rancid in case anyone was wondering.)
OH and Lunasea, I have been an admirer(sp) of pale redheads all of my life, I also happen to be a redhead, my arms face neck and legs are dark(farmers tan) But it didnt help me when I got the shit burnt outta my face and neck when I went to the Warped tour a while back. (I now have a lovely scar on my neck)

Another pale redhead here that believes that white sneakers are far worse than the black ones. I offer my pair of black Converse as evidence.

There is nothing wrong with black jeans, trainers or shoes.

There is something seriously geeky about black shoes and white socks(think Michael Jackson,)although this is not as bad as work shoes and white sports socks.

Riiiiiiiight. That would be the pale-skinned, yet still so lovably soft kind. How silly of me not to clarify.

lunasea, I’ll show you my black socks if you’ll show me yours

  1. I dig the pale-skinned female types- Red haired ones moreso.
  2. All my jeans- black
All of the shoes I wear- black
I have enough black t-shirts to do an entire load of laundry. I divide my laundry into dark colors, light colors, whites, and blacks. If you look long enough, you can find Chuck Taylor Allstars with black tops, soles, sides, laces and grommets. They cost no more than the regular ones. They are called the “monochrome” chucks or something. I have ordered them special. I have been known to wear black pants, shoes, socks, underwear, hat, shirt and jacket. (nobody bothers me when I dress like that- I’m usually in a bad mood though when I do.) I had a black car at one time that rounded out the look (it had black tires too). I had a black case for my computer specially ordered, and the phone next to it… was black. I also have three black mollies in a 45 gallon fishtank in my kitchen, but it’s a woodgrain finish on the stand, because the black stand was too shiny. My comfy chair from IKEA has black cusions. My carpeting is grey, because black carpeting would just be strange. I don’t wear all black anymore since I quit working at MicroWarhouse though- my mood is better. When I get cranky though, I usually express it by wearing certain clothing- LOTSA BLACK!

Black shoes don’t show dirt as much. White shoes always turn tan/grey/gray

Oh, ummm…

Washing hair = Good
Not washing hair = Not quite as good.

Did Dave Swaneys SO run away with a geek? Bets anyone???

My office does not allow tennis shoes. How do I get around this rule? I buy nondescript black tennis shoes. Worn with black socks. To the casual observer, they are just plain old black shoes. Haven’t gotten in trouble yet for them.

I do not own any black jeans though. But I do drool over pale-skinned redheads!

Just out of geeky curiousity, what do you think of brunettes with freckles?

well, that depends on how you look in nothing but black socks

Actually, dark haired women are so very alluring. Especially intelligent ones.

Iiiiiiii’ve got black socks. And probably could find some of kelli’s black undies too.

Mmmmmmmm, meet me behind the dryer and we’ll see what else we can keep warm.

White New Balance Cross-trainers
White socks with grey bottoms
Lee Blue Jeans
Polo Shirt
Washed Hair
4 day stubble on face

GEEK!

Remember:

Dweeb = low intelligence, no social skills
Nerd = high intelligence, no social skills
Geek = high intelligence, social skills, chooses not to use them!

I’m a geek, and have some black jeans… but i rarely wear sneakers… i prefer sandals or combat boots/doc martans. If i do wear shoe-shoes they are genreally also Doc Martans

No, more like SLOB!

Unshaven grown men who aren’t wearing beards just strike me as either juvenile, lazy or slovenly and unkempt.

I think the point of the “black shoes” question is that back in the day, the geeks wore nondescript black sneakers which were definitely not cool, mostly because of the fact that nobody else wore black sneakers at that point.

I remember being surprised when my little brother(a fashion plate of sorts) bought black sneakers, but nobody ever accused him of being the least bit geeky.

The biggest geek clothing issue I see is that geeks tend to wear shoes & clothes which may not be exactly scuzzy or hideous, but definitely not attractive or fashionable. It’s the same suitation as old men in polyester slacks & old ties. They don’t really look disreputable or slovenly, but they don’t really look good either. I think geeks catch much more hell because many people think they ought to care more.

One pair of mine are about half and half, black & white, and the other set is blue & white.

One of the first things that attracted me to my ur-geek husband was the fact that he wore real shoes, not sneakers of any kind. Made him look like an adult.

Sneakers are bad enough, but black sneakers creep me out.

:confused::eek: :frowning: :cool:

Where’s the pleasure in that? I fight my adulthood everyday. Acting childish and goofy is so much more fun!

Another pale-skinned red head (well, more like auburn) here! I’m glad people like pale ones like me that hang out in basements! Anyone go for the willowy type as well?

Pale skin? Got it. Very pale. With very pale freckles. Red hair? Not quite, but could have red just as easily as the golden brown I currently use…er, have…and black sneakers? Well, I AM a geek…got black and white and wear whichever I feel like, but my favorite footwear is a pair of brown leather hiking boot-type thingies.

Welfy dear, you have my heart in the palm of your hand…
