What was the deal when the Klingons went ape shit and started fighting Starfleet? (or it’s Alies?) I thought Starfleet and Klingons where supposed to be alies?
…uhhh…uhhhh… When?
Way of the Warrior, parts I and II, the season 3/4 cliffhanger. Basically, the Klingons were chomping at the bit to invade Cardassia, involving a lot of talk about how they had lost their old glorious conquering ways. The Federation said “Hell no. Put those guns down.”
It’s been too long since I watched it, but as I recall Sisko used DS9 to forcefully block their invasion. Gowron went batshit and declared the Khitomer accords null and void. Explosions ensued, including some really great dogfighting between the Defiant and some Klingon birds of prey.
Of course, once the dust settled the treaty was restored in short order and life went back to normal.
Was this the one where Worf resigned dramatically? And then undramatically unresigned?
It wasn’t short order – it basically took the entire season.
Cardassia basically overthrew military rule and established a civilian government. Klingons thought that that couldn’t have happened unless there was Changeling interference. Also, many Klingons thought that the empire was stagnating, and were itching for a fight anyway. So, they wanted to go in and invade Cardassia. As it turns out, One of their big head guys (General Martok, I think) was replaced by a Changeling, so that whole bit could have been to destabilize the Alpha Quadrant as a whole - it would fit right in with Dominion MO
Geeky, as opposed to? :dubious:
I stand corrected. I think I’ll rewatch the two-parter this weekend.
Bingo.
Of course, we didn’t find out Martok was a Changeling until the next season.
Which is really weird, because Martok sliced his hand open to prove he wasn’t a Changeling. If he was switched at that point, that would imply that blood screenings are pretty much useless; yet we see Starfleet continuing to rely on them throught the series.
…forgive me, I’m trying to remember a situation when Gowron didn’t go batshit.
nah that was a TNG 2parter.
This was the time that Gowron re-disolved the house of Mogh.
Which is what Sisko’s father pointed out in that two-parter where the Changeling was on Earth: they can just kill a small animal, absorb its blood and release it on command. They didn’t test if it was HUMAN blood, just if it was blood.
Is it really necessary to spoiler tag a show that has been over for years?
Rule of acquisiton 34- Spoiler tags are like the rain on Ferengenar-a free resource which should be utilized often.
