General Question for Mods

I asked a mod this privately, who agreed it was something that needed to be brought up generally before I did it, so the mods would understand what was supposed to be happening.

I want to post in probably MPSIMS, or maybe even Thread Games, a thread called “Hijack Me,” where thread drift is acceptable, and the point is to see the organic evolution of the thread as people pick up some tangent from one post, and in a few pages, the thread about AA is about taco recipes.

Latecomers will probably respond to an earlier post after the topic has gone on, and two different conversation will be going on at once for a while.

I’ve been on MBs where that was the way things were done, and it was fun.

Please advise: is this OK at all? if so, where should I post it?

Thread Games seems like the place for it.

Reminds me of a thread we had on snopes, simply titled, “Unhijackable”. I tried to hijack it one day with a lolcat stickup, but I didn’t get far.

I once started a thread titled, “Hands Up, This Thread Is Going To Cuba” that turned into that sort of a thread. I think it was the first reference to “hijacking” in terms of derailing a thread here on the SDMB.

Many of the weekly MMP threads start with a post that closes, “Hijack away!” We haven’t usually minded threads that were started for the expressed purpose of hijacking them, so far as I know.
