So, after watching The Lady and the Dale on HBO, my takeaway was that there is no way someone like Elizabeth Carmichael could pull off her scams in the modern day with the Internet and social media. HBO’s new doc series, Generation Hustle, completely proves me wrong. Turns out it makes it even easier. There’s one really contrived episode on Scam Rap, and a little bit of producer manipulation of the viewer’s expectations in some of the others, but, over all, it’s a great survey of modern sociopathy.
