Don’t you worry: people love me IRL. And I don’t just mean my wife, family, etc. I have been driving for Uber the last few months, and I constantly get told (usually by people 20 years younger) that I’m the coolest.

One of the most convincing things on the internet is when people crow about how awesome they are and how much people love them IRL. Definitely no one ever makes that shit up!
A grown up isn’t super pleased that his 20 something Uber passengers think he’s cool. He wonders why he’s driving an Uber and seeks the validation of people 20 years his junior.
Then maybe being a grownup is overrated. (One of my favorite people to hang out with is my 18 year old son.) I am a slacker, after all: how “grownup” is that? 
As for driving Uber, sure: it doesn’t pay very well. But I love it, and I’d do it for free. It’s fun, it’s easy (key for a slacker: I couldn’t handle most jobs no matter how high the pay), and I love talking to people. And I already made a good friend that I hang out with regularly (and yes, he’s 20 years younger than I am).
You think you are super intuitive and clever, yet you ended up being a stay at home dad until this Uber thing came along. And it’s not because your wife has some great paying job, it’s because your entire adult life you haven’t been able to get a job that would be worth more than a babysitter. I never get personal in these forums, I challenge anyone to a point where I did, but you bring it there. You strut and strut o the basis of the lamest of intellect.
Interesting to see people take such an elitist, disdainful attitude toward Uber drivers, many of whom are immigrants and POC. Or for that matter toward people more broadly who don’t have high-powered careers and stay home with their kids. Not a great look. :dubious:
BTW, my wife, who has two master’s degrees, does have a really good job as far as I’m concerned. Middle class pay, good benefits, tons of vacation time, and she’s doing something that is sorely needed in society and for which she has received many plaudits. In only her second year teaching high school, she has already been tapped as a veteran teacher and instructional leader to go to another high school in the district and mentor a first year teacher who is struggling.
