Genre Fiction Mafia

Sorry, that’s me now–last three games I’ve played here I’ve been scum.

Why don’t you jaunt on over and see?

Zing!

Well, then, you and Ed should have plenty to talk about on the night boards.

Yep. That was a fun game – storyteller is still my hero.

That makes sense, just a different dynamic than I’m used to. I think this came up in one of the earlier games when someone posted to the game thread instead of the scum boards and quickly edited the post. I believe they were lynched for it, though, so I guess that shows it’s not much of a problem.

Oh, the heck with it. I’m in.

As long as we’re shooting the breeze waiting for the game to start, I’m curious about the fact that there are rarely, if ever, no-flip games here. (A fact for which I am grateful; playing in a no-flip game would make me crazy) But I was curious if other than Mr. Blockey, do most game creators find them unfulfilling or is it just a matter of taste?

I thought about putting one in [game redacted] – or, more to the point, I thought about putting a Janitor in that game, which would have potentially resulted in a no-flip death or two.

And doesn’t Pleo use a form of no-flip in his Conspiracy games?

I’d call Conspiracy delayed flip, not no-flip. I’m almost positive that I’ve seen one or two games where there were absolutely no reveals until the game ended and so the town really had to rely on scum hunting and were unable to calculate things like LyLo.

I vaguely recall something along those lines, but I don’t think I played in the game in question – like you, I think that would drive me absolutely to drink.

Essentially, It’s a matter of balance (less info means it will be harder for town), and whether such a feature will make a game more fun. I personally don’t enjoy no flip games, so I probably would never run one.

I play a ton of no-flip games. They are indeed difficult.

I’ve played in Hoopy’s false-flip game, though that one was explicitly Gastard. And there was a death-Miller Cop in Screamers Mafia, which made the whole thing very fun. Sort of.

Cool thanks. I was just wondering if it was a philosophy of mafia difference or personal preference.

I hope there is still place for me, I want to play

I just noticed this. I want it on the record, any posts I make in game can be assumed to be made with a G&T in hand; that should help with the withering barbs I’m sure I’ll be casting. (A screwdriver if it’s in the morning, I have some standards.)

hi all! first time here although i was a sub for the Thundercats game. good to see new and familiar people.

with that, i’m in.

Hi Gnarly, I am so glad you’re playing this one
