George Carlin on Jay Leno 11/15

Did anyone catch George Carlin’s spoken word piece on Jay Leno tonight? It was kind of cool. It reminded me a bit of Tom Wait’s “Step right up”.

It’s nice to see someone step out of their common comedy bit from time to time.

No, but after reading this thread I tried to watch the Leno rerun a few hours later. Of course, it wasn’t from the same night, so that didn’t help. But as soon as it’s on the 'net or something, I’m looking forward to seeing it. Sounds very interesting.

He has done a similar rap before, but last night’s was particularly good.

Heh, I saw him do it live at a book signing at Olsson’s book store in
Arlington, VA, last month.

I didn’t see the whole show. Did Carlin do a standup bit? I saw part of his sit-down act; he appeared more speeded-up than usual. Good, tho. He’s another person like Robin Williams that doesn’t really need Leno to keep things going; Leno’s only a prop. Not that that’s a bad thing–I like Carlin more than Leno, anyway.

I think this is the routine we are talking about:

I clapped.

I said, and I quote, “enh.”

No, that’s not quite it, this one was more along the lines of “high-tech”. I thought it was interesting, my 17-year old daughter didn’t care for it (probably because it should have been put to rap music).

I didn’t see it, but was this it?

That’s the beginning of the first piece of writing in his new book, When Will Jesus Bring the Porkchops?, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he did it on the show.

Yep, that was it. I think he’s gotten most of the bile out of his system that was prominent in his 90’s bits.
