George W. Bush Did Not Win the Nobel Peace Prize

Bush (and Blair) nominated? Now that’s pit-worthy.

Of course, 165 people were nominated this year. Somehow I doubt that Bush was shortlisted.

There are two accepted ways to make reparations for such heinous crimes. You can either make regular posts of exceeding quality and wit for our general amusement for at least a year, or you can take the quick route and buy an indulgence at Cecil’s House o’ Values, which will help to fund our campaign of international terrori… um… ignorance eradication.

Who are we kidding? You’ll never leave. Welcome aboard.

In other news, Pope Catholic; Bear Shits in Woods. More at 11.

Well, that work was clearly a rip-off of Ode To a Small Lump of Green Putty I Found In My Armpit One Midsummer Morning.

Right?

“10-year-old steals camera. Film at 11. More as this story develops…”

My posts will most certainly exceed something, whether it’s quality will be a judgment reserved for a later time. I do, however, already own all of TSD books and have been reading them for approx. 15 years.

Thanks for all the welcomes.

And now that it is 5am, I should probably head to sleep.

Sleep?

I’m thinking you’ve got the right idea there, and you’ve got a coupla hours on me.

G’night.

Anyone can be nominated for a Nobel prize. All you have to do basically is have someone submit your name through the formal process. It’s something that would look pretty good on a resume: 2003 - nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

With the job market the way it is these days, you are talking some sense here.

You can’t just get anybody to nominate you. Well, you can, but their letter will be tossed and it won’t count as a formal nomination. Previous NPP winners can nominate people, as can members of national legislatures, and some other groups I can’t remember right now.

Of course, if you’re President or Prime Minister and can’t get some member of your national legislature to nominate you if you ask them to, you’ve got serious problems. (Bush’n’Blair, for the record, were nominated by a Norwegian MP.)

The big question is, does an Iranian winner make invasion of Iran more or less likely? Because it obviously proves they need to improve their human rights, but at the same time, it proves that Moslems can be in favor of human rights and democracy without getting murdered in their sleep by their evil governments.

It wouldn’t have surprised me at all if Bush had won it. If they’ll give it to Henry Kissinger and David Trimble, they’ll give it to anyone.

Damn that Bush, always stealing my limelight. I worked my ass off trying not to win the Nobel Peace Prize, but no-o-o, he’s got to go and not win it for himself!

cmason32, here’s the breakdown:

About This Message Board: My post regarding Bush’s Peace Prize rejection seems to have triple posted. Is this normal?

Comments on Cecil’s Columns: Cecil must be insane for suggesting that the Nobel committee made the right choice.

Comments on Staff Reports: How would these people know anything about the Nobel? They’re not Cecil.

General Discussions: How exactly is the Nobel Peace Prize winner selected?

Great Debates: Why in the world didn’t Bush win the Nobel Peace Prize? Was his defeat caused by the vast liberal media?

Cafe Society: What did you think of the book by the Nobel Literature prize winning author?

In My Humble Opinion: Who do you think will win the Nobel Peace Prize?

Mindless Pointless Stuff I Must Share: Hmm, if I won the Nobel Peace Prize, I could put on quite a Dopefest with the award money.

The BBQ Pit: What the fuck were they thinking, stiffing Bush on the Nobel Peace Prize? If a pre-emptive war isn’t all about peace, what is?

Michael Jackson didn’t win either. It was fixed, I tell you.

You really should try to rein in your rather misguided hatred, Ruadh.
Where exactly do you find fault in Trimbles’ efforts prior to him and John Hume being given the award in 1998?

You do know that John Gotti is dead as well, don’t you?

I think I’ll move this over to MPSIMS.

Or, of course, you could just take the paddling…

This was a pretty good book about the history of the Nobel Prize and it’s winners (and some not-winners).

.

My hatred is quite well guided, thank you very much.
