Dude, no. Just no. South Carolina? Sure. But not California–you’d have me believe you’ve never eaten a good peach before, saying that.
See, by the time here in Northern Ohio we get “Southern” peaches, they were picked too unripe so they would travel, then they ripen poorly and taste pithy.
We get our best peaches from West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Just as good as getting fresh ones from GA/SC.
As far as good peaches coming from FL or CA, just say NO.
Please don’t buy peaches from CA. Maybe that industry will die and then they’ll move to a state that actually gets rain. Then the water they use can go to people and help with the water shortage and then maybe people will start taking showers more than once a month like Brown is trying to make us do.
If you’d eaten a fresh CA or FL peach picked a couple days ago off a local tree you wouldn’t say that.
If you get peaches from either state shipped to wherever **LHoD **lives or to Akron then I can certainly understand why you think they suck. Peaches just don’t travel well. Nor store all that well.
Best peaches I ever ate were picked off trees in my childhood back yards.

Can we here in the Atlanta metro area get a release from this pitting? I mean we got some flag waving asshats here, but not near the numbers in the rest of the state. A very common expression here is "There is Atlanta, and then there is the rest of the state.
Oddly enough I have never seen an actual peach tree in GA. Plenty in SC though.
Forget the peaches, I’m gonna miss Vidalia onions.

Walls Walla onions are better, and have no racist residue. (Washington peaches are awesome, too.)
