Do most Germany McDs have free wifi? Or, at least some kind of “pay as you go” wifi account to get wifi access while at McDs
According to the German McDonald’s website, you’ll get wifi access in all their restaurants, and the first hour is free. You first have to register for the service with a cell phone using a German provider to get an access PIN for wifi via text. After the first hour, you’ll get charged, but it’s not stated which way and how much.
Emphasis added because they don’t budge on this restriction. You can’t get wireless access without a German mobile phone number; they won’t send your access PIN to a foreign number.
As a consolation, all German McDonald’s serve beer.
Really!

As a German, occasional McD’s patron, I didn’t know this, but a short google tells me that it’s true. But it’s not explicitly advertised, for instance the McD’s website section about beverages doesn’t list beer. I think nobody here goes to McD’s to get drunk on beer, and who wants to drink it from a plastic cup anyway (we are fussy about our beer culture)? I suspect it caters mainly to people who get the munchies when out late on a bender, fight it at McD’s and don’t want to stop their alcoholic input.
But this is topped in Italy, where in 1997 I visited a McDonald’s restaurant at a highway rest stop which had a full-fledged bar with every brand of liquor you wanted.
