I seriously doubt that this is the reason. I rented both Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in a video store in Germany once. The latter movie contains a full Nazi parade in Berlin, complete with book burning and a personal appearance by Adolf Hitler! Not to mention the fact that Schindler’s List was also released in German theaters when I was there. I believe the real reason this episode was suppressed was to avoid offending people rather than any legal reason.
