That’s it. Thanks.
More likely to end up like Badfinger musically and otherwise (acrimony, lawsuits, and premature death).
Thank god that never happened to the Beatles.
Nitpick: Regina Spektor.
I do love her voice.
I call it scavenging, especially since John’s been dead for 43 years (longer than he was alive) and George referred to their first attempt with this song “f**king rubbish.” There’s a reason some songs don’t get released, Sir Paul.
And that’s how we got Give My Regards to Broad Street, boys and girls.
Same here.
I like both Free as a Bird, and Real Love. They are the type of songs I imagine the Beatles would have evolved into, had they continued to compose together, and Lennon wasn’t murdered. A slower-paced, more mature sound. They hit me with a strong sense of nostalgia when I listen to them. Not musically on par with the Beatle’s best perhaps, but better than many.
I think Real Love is the better song. It’s catchy. Free as a Bird is kind of klunky and mopey with the Jeff Lynne overproduction. Real Love still has some magic. The video for Free as a Bird is interesting though.
Hmm.
