"ALBUQUERQUE - Undercover video recorded by ProgressNow New Mexico shows the Republican Party training poll challengers in illegal tactics that could potentially restrict the voting rights of as many as 1-in8 New Mexicans in November.
"A recording of the September 26th official “Poll Challenger Training” conducted by the Republican Party shows a GOP & Tea Party leader giving false and/or misleading information about voting rights and regulations to the training’s attendees. The training was replete with misinformation about ID requirements, the use of provisional ballots, assistance for Spanish-speaking citizens, change of address requirements, and the rights of the disabled at the polls.
…
“Update: (10:04am MT) New Mexico Congressman Steve Pearce tells The Nation that he was aware of the training and supports it, even though he knows some tactics are illegal. Also says this is the way the GOP will take back New Mexico.”
Nice.
Lord knows what else they’re going to pull. Election night is going to be ugly.
No, ACORN didn’t do anything wrong. They did everything right by flagging potentially bad voter registration cards to the Secretaries of State before they could even be processed, and the Republicans made up a bunch of lies to convince their constituents otherwise.
So what are you saying? Turn about is fair play? That it’s OK if a Republican does it but not OK if a Democrat Does? That you only care about election fraud or other laws being broken if it’s not someone you like? I am really curious what you are trying to say with this non sequitur, and since we are not in the pit, I am sure it was meaningful…
I am starting to get the feeling that you would have supported the OJ verdict if he was the quarterback of you local team - this is just how you roll, isn’t it?
You misspelled “they did everything right by cheating and breaking the law in favour of the Democrats”.
Seriously, this continued partisan defence of ACORN looks absurd from the outside. Just admit that your side fucked up, that there are bad people on every side, and explain why your side is better than the other without pretending they’re perfect.
Unfortunately, I must also concede that in this particular case you have a very valid complaint. The stuff about insensitivity to the disabled is of no legal significance, of course, but there is no excuse whatsoever for them to be providing information contrary to the law. My defense of Voter ID laws rests on the fact that they are adopted by representative democratic processes. When individuals or groups take it upon themselves to flout the real law with their own version, that’s utterly wrong, utterly unsupportable, and must be stopped.
You often have to concede points to me in our debates because I’m right and you’re a tool. Glad I could chalk another one up in my column to add to Zell Miller and the Plano non-war on Christmas.
Jesus fuck, Marley, why the hell would you move this to the damn PIT so now no one wants to talk about the actual ELECTION STEALING ACTIVITIES being perpetrated by the GOP, which is the SUBJECT of this thread?
I heard Trader Joe’s is owned by GOP operatives and in the first week of November their Vegetarian Tikka Masala Sauce will secretly be replaced by a new, genetically engineered version. This new sauce will be indistinguishable from the old sauce but it makes people want lower taxes and less regulation, and stimulates an interest in stock car racing in certain vulnerable populations. In early testing, a self-identified Green Party member was given too much of the sauce and reportedly sent threatening emails to Carl Pope. The subject could only be appeased by a free ticket to a David Allan Coe concert.
I for one think it vitally important to watch the voting and the ballot counting like hawks. Take nothing for granted. The hard right have many officials in position to commit fraud, and it is probable and precedented that some of them will, for various reasons.
I suppose some on the left will as well. There is desperation on both sides, however manufactured. We are at war.
