I voted for GD. It’s pointless, and seems to bring out the worst in people.
I may not care about the thread games in the Game Room, or the kitty pictures in MPSIMS, but GD combines the inanity of those threads with the fire-breathing passion of our most self-rightous members. Pointless and anger-inducing is a bad combo.
I think it’s ridiculous to suggest that this board should eliminate debates.
Well, i don’t care if it is ridiculous. Out of that list, I definitely voted GD. Nothing ever gets accomplished there, the excluded middle is always just that, and it’s the same people talking at and through each other all the time.
I like the game room, even though I never play any games - I like video game talk (to an extent).
If we get rid of debates, we might as well shut down the whole board since its mission then becomes impossible. People who don’t like arguments should stick to cat boards.

I like the game room. Half the threads I read here are in that forum. I have always felt that IMHO was redundant and that those threads could be split into GQ, GD or MPSIMS depending on the nature of the thread.

No, GQ is the heart of the board and the only forum that really has anything to do with fighting ignorance. Everything else is just an offshoot. GD has nothing to do with the mission of the board, it’s just a nonstop circle jerk for a dozen or so posters who like to hear themselves speak (or whatever the message board equivalent of that is).
GD is exactly the mission of the board. Everything doesn’t have a GQ answer. GD is where things get hashed out. I’m amazed at this attitude. I don’t know why people afraid of disagreement and debate would even be drawn to this board in the first place.
I’m not speaking for “the rest of the board”. I am only speaking for the part of the board who doesn’t particularly care for GD. I mean, a lot of us come here for lots of other things, so your assertion that we “may as well shut down the board” is a bit silly. Maybe we’d have to change the tagline or the idealism of the board, but we’d still be a board…and I don’t even agree with that, since it’s GQ that’s really “fighting ignorance”.
Anyway, I am done arguing with you. It’s not as though magically because I or others said so that GD will disappear, so why are you so upset about me saying it? I’ve said my opinion, and btw, this is exactly why I don’t like GD…people argue and argue and argue and never listen to the other one’s points. I am not afraid of disagreement and debate. It’s just not my interest. I do like the company here, and that’s why I come.
Anaamika, while I agree with you in a general sense, I think Dio has this one right by accident. It’s only because of GD and GQ that the rest of the boards are what they are.
That is, we could just as easily have MPSIMS or CS elsewhere, but we don’t. They’re here.

I’d get rid of ATMB so that the recreational whiners couldn’t start “rules explanation” threads that never resolve anything to anyone’s satisfaction and seem to exist solely for the participants to submit post after post of pointless quibbling.
