No, although it seems that every couple of years I have the “I have an important test and I’m very late and haven’t studied” dream.
Of all the SDMB areas, do you spend most of your time in the Game Room?
No, although it seems that every couple of years I have the “I have an important test and I’m very late and haven’t studied” dream.
Of all the SDMB areas, do you spend most of your time in the Game Room?
No… The Pit and IMHO are #1 and #2.
Do you like the board software?
It’s all right. I have some quibbles but nothing major.
Do you often check out Domebo?
Nope. But I’m starting to be a regular on the Giraffe Board.
Are you laid back?
Generally speaking, although some things and some people can get me to be a real tightass. Stern, even.
Have you ever testified under oath or affirmation?
No, my only courtroom experiences have been related to jury selection and (in one case) participation. Oh, and sitting in the galleries for a U.S. Supreme Court session during a trip to Washington.
Have you ever taken an overnight bus trip (Greyhound or analogous line)?
Yes, from Birmingham (UK) to Aberdeen.
Have you ever had anything notarized?
No.
Ever gone an entire 24 hours with no food or drink?
Close to that, but no, fortunately.
Are you looking forward to summer?
Very much so!
Do you have a plan?
For summer? Yes, a weeklong visit with my wife’s family in Vermont; a short trip to Washington for sightseeing; and a week on the beach in Nags Head, N.C. Also a long weekend visiting What Exit? and his family in Joisey.
Have you ever been on the Outer Banks?
No.
Has your life, hobbies, and habits changed much since the invention of the computer?
Indeed yes, or at least since their incorporation into everyday life. Seems like everything in my life centers around computers now, something that would have been unthinkable to me decades ago.
Have you ever been carried out of a bar?
No, nor have I carried anyone else out of a bar.
Are you admitted to the bar of your state?
No, I’m a business grad.
Ever danced on a bar?
No. Never even… uh, no.
Do you like whiskey?
Yes, indeed. I was not much of a whiskey drinker until I came to Thailand. Whiskey drinking is a big Thai social activity at get-togethers. Have since come to enjoy Scotch especially. Johnnie Walker predominates, but I tend to like Glenfidditch best. They used to import Cardhu here, but that stopped years ago. Bourbon, on the other hand, turns my stomach. There are some cheap “rice whiskies,” Mekong brand being the market favorite – it’s actually not bad – but there’s a long-running debate about whether they really can be called whiskies, since they’re made from rice.
Do you like roller coasters?
Love them.
Do you go to the bookstore often?
No, not as often as I would like. When I do, I end up buying a lot, and books are expensive here. Most Thais never read for pleasure and will live their entire lives without reading a single book – many university students manage never to crack a book during their studies! — and books are considered a luxury item of interest mainly to “wealthy” foreigners, so they are priced accordingly. We do, however, belong to a private library, which is a good deal. It cuts the expense down quite a bit even if the selection is often limited.
Are you a slave to fashion?
Somewhat.
Do you like drinking soda?
