Getting rid of go.google

I’m not quite sure what I did, but I was trying to fill out a form for Ticket Asster, when my system just decided to reboot. Now anything I search for in Google redirects me to the useless pain in the butt go.google instead of giving me what I asked for.

I hate spyware or malware or whatever the fork it is.

How can I rid myself of this idiocy? (I’d Google it myself, but, well…)

This might help.

I removed this with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (from Duckster’s link).

I got “The page cannot be displayed” on both links.

They both worked fine for me.

Your computer has been hijacked in such a way that Google search results get redirected and most sites with known anti-malware fixes are blocked. So if you try to go to, say, housecall.trendmicro.com that will be blocked (you can’t reach it) so will the Malware Bytes site too. You can probably get to, say, msnbc.com just fine.

If you’re familiar with the Hosts file, the way this virus works is sort of like making a whole bunch of bad entries in Hosts only it’s not doing that it’s doing it in a place where you can’t reach it.

If you want, I’ll put it on my server and give you a link to it. My server shouldn’t be blocked via this virus. PM me (I don’t want to publicize my server).
