It’s been a while since I saw that movie. How was the slice 'n dice Heinleinian?
Casper van Diem played the lead in the Starship Troopers movie.
::takes pity on congodwarf’s boggling mind::
Korean won is printed in 1000, 5000, and 10,000 bills. The thou bill is basically like a dollar bill in the US. Our coins are 10, 50, 100, and 500.

And he’s the only reason that movie was bad. It’s allllllll his fault.
Not directed at Miller of course, but at all Heinlein fans who’ve villified Van Diem for the movie not living up to their expectations. If Van Diem should be villified for anything, it should be for his new REALITY SHOW.
Eh, I liked Ghost Ship-I like a good ghost story and the gore was pretty neat. (And the song in the opening, sung by Monica Mancini was beautiful.)
I wasn’t doubting that a cable like that could cut through a single person, but all those people at once? That was so creepy. (And how their bodies were still moving, and there was a guy crawling around with nothing below the waist?)
I can’t remember which movie it was (perhaps some kind soul will be along shortly to help), but I seem to recall some haunted house-type movie (from the mid-80s or thereabouts) where one of the victims was in a room (the basement?) and couldn’t get out, neither door nor windows. Then, the top half of one of the windows eases down, offering him escape. The poor sap doesn’t take long to start scrambling out the window, only to have that mean ol’ house SLAM the framed window pane back up again, squeezing him in the middle and quickly cutting him in half. His upper half twitching on the ground outside is something I can still remember.
Let’s not forget the elevator cable scene from “Damien: Omen II”. (1978) Anyone got an earlier “sliced-in-half(or more pieces)-with-a-steel-cable” gore scene?
There was a Killer Cable scene in Die Hard 3, too. They played it for laughs - funniest joke in the film.
Meant to add a ?
Lets not forget the episode of Southpark where the cable cuts through the crowd at Butters dance recital.
I have always found that slicing scene in Thirteen Ghosts incredibly creepy.
Much more horrifying though, was that scene in The Cell where
a horse gets sliced into several pieces like a freakin’ loaf of bread. The animal convulsed for a moment before all its pieces slid to the floor.
I tell you, the images from that sequence were burned into my skull for several days.
Mods plz retitle this thread “Name movies where people get sliced up alive”
Somebody mentioned The Omen II but didn’t something similar happen in the original Omen, a man decapitated by a sheet of glass or something? It’s not a steel cable, and he doesn’t stay alive for a second after, so… ok. I guess that one doesn’t count at all.
I had forgotten about Final Destination 2 but it is maybe the goriest one I remember.
I think you have the scene wrong.
It is sliced up like that, but more like each slice is between glass panes. I don’t recal it dropping down; it was simply spread out.
