There’s a question that has always bothered me. Suppose there is a three story house somewhere, and a ghost haunts the third floor and only the third floor, which is thirty feet off the ground. Now suppose someone tears the house down. What happens to the ghost? Does it now haunt the same area at ground level? Does it hover perpetually thirty feet off the ground? Or does it disappear altogether?
I’ve puzzled on that one, too, Chuckster.
But so far, haven’t met a ghost in that situation, so no-body to ask… as it were … chuckle
But, most times ghosts stay where they are, because they have an attachment to something in that place … area or what ever … so I’m thinking it could go any of several ways … Tear down the structure, and the ghost might just ‘free up’ and cross on “over.”
Or it could stay in the area, and then adapt to what ever gets built there next … or it can even “spot” someone “interesting” and follow them home.
One friend has a ghost in her house that does her the favor of playing with the dog all day. Way cool for my friend, now when she comes home the dog is all contented, rather than all over her for attention. Haven’t found any history that anyone ever passed away in the house, and don’t have a direct sense from the ghost that it has always been in that particular house … sometimes ghosts are mobile … more attached to things about being with people, rather than particular locations.
Or it could be a mellow dog.
