Meeeeeeeeeblewibble. I am going to be very prompt about taking my contacts out now, I think.
The worst I’ve done so far is put some sort of scratch on my eye, or something, after I didn’t take my lenses out for three our four days. (They were a brand-new pair, I didn’t want to toss them! And I didn’t have my solution, because I’d just moved.) Next time I tried to wear contacts, I couldn’t have them in for more than five minutes before my eyes would start stinging like bitches, and it got worse and worse (it was especially bad when I blinked) until I absolutely had to remove them. My eyes are fine now, and I still love my contacts, but I’m going to be a lot more careful with them after reading this thread.
Shit like this is why I will never wear contacts. available light takes good care of hers and she still has problems sometimes. Once she had a badly fitting pair that stratched her corneas, so she had to switch to a different type. At some point her old cleaning chemicals started to irritate her eyes, so now she has to use a difficult to find type instead. Just recently one of her contacts got stuck to her eye, and she couldn’t see well enough to flush and remove it herself, so I had to do it.
Anyway, I think the right pair of glasses on a woman are smokin’ hot.
PunditLisa, the opometrist at my doc’s office was great. I guess part of the reason my current glasses are ill-fitting is I used to only wear them for 20 minutes a day, after waking up and before going to bed. It hardly mattered. But this girl was dynamite. She fetched about 6-8 pairs of frames for me to try on, and the very first pair she chose wound up being the runner up. I went for another of her choices that was a little more bold. But they were all much better than my current ones. I also got super light lenses and anti-reflective coating.
I still think they’ll slide down my nose when I work out and get all sweaty, but hopefully I’ll be able to wear contacts while working out.
I’m really glad people are posting to say they are going to be more careful with their contacts. That was part of my motivation for sharing this.
Well, now I’m worried. I hate contacts but have to give up my glasses for hard contacts. All you people who’ve had GPC and I’ve never even heard of it. I hope I don’t get it or I’ll be screwed. I do follow all the contact cleaning directions very carefully. Has anyone gotten it from wearing hard contacts, and did you do anything strange with them that you think caused it?
