Giant Rabbits to Feed North Koreans

How much more do I really need to say? This story has North Korea, giant bunnies and a German.

Hmmm…Night Of The Lepus meets Red Dawn.

I dunno…

That’s the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on!

(You tit! I soiled my armour I was so scared!)

Favorite quote from the article:

They interviewed the guy on NPR. “There is a lot of good meat in the head.”

Umm, rabbit head meat!

I really want a giant bunny as a pet. Seriously.

I’ve googled, but all I can find on this guy is this story, and a couple things in German. Does anyone have any leads on giant bunnies? Is there anything cuddlier?

I generally assume that animals which are mass-bred for consumption became so as they were the most streamlined for converting vegetation to meat. Given that, the fact that chickens are the big cage-able meat in the rest of the world, I would have to assume that it’s cheaper in terms of vegetation to make chicken meat than bunny.

Or do European-type people just not like eating bunny?

“Tell me about the rabbits, Jong-Il. Tell me about the rabbits again.”

“One day, we’ll vanquish the imperialist oppressors, the Yankees and their running-dog lackeys in Seoul, and then we’ll be livin’ off the fat of the land. And you’ll take care of the giant German-bred bunny rabbits.”

Radio Free America Announcer: It’s 11:59 on Radio Free America; this is Uncle Sam, with music, and the truth until dawn. Right now I’ve got a few words for some of our brothers and sisters in the occupied zone: "Attention! Attention! Ladies and gentlemen, attention! There is a herd of killer rabbits headed this way and we desperately need your help! ". It’s twelve o’clock…

Those images, which use perspective tricks to make the rabbits appear much bigger than they obviously are, are annoyingly unprofessional. I wish they just had one simple image of the rabbit sitting next to a normal sized one for scale.

We’ve got one at work that’s a twenty - pounder. She’s a Flemish Giant and she’s albino. Yep, Whiteout is one big bunny! Based on what she looks like, I’d say the pics aren’t really that much out of perspective, not for a 10 kilo+ animal.

FWIW, I’ve never eaten rabbit and likely won’t. I’m typing this with my own two, Sapphire and Spooky, sitting right behind me!

<BB8thD>Laugh wala you can, Monkey-Boy!

The Giant a Bunnies are-a COMIN!
A-comin for-a YOU! </BB8thD>

By any chance, is the German’s name Hasenfeffer…?

I think rabbits do fine on grass and other plants that humans don’t digest.

No…these two are!

“I’m not a wabbit… I need some West.”

I thought in North Korea the grass was reserved for people. I hope the rabbits can subsist on sawdust and used cardboard.

Giant rabbits are the real reason we’re now 5 minutes to midnight on the Doomsday Clock.

No of course. I meant that in terms of economics. Any animal takes X amount of space, Y amount of feed, and produces Z amount of meat. You want to maximize Z while minimizing X and Y. So how does a giant rabbit compare to a chicken?

I saw this on CNN recently, but when I read the thread title I got an image of Kim Jong Il sitting in a high chair and a giant rabbit spoonfeeding him porridge.
