Gift subscriptions / Potential Scholarship Help

While I’m working through more subscription options, I’m not finding an easy way to set up a gift subscription option with the current board software.

We can do it old school – manually.

I have created categories on the Paid Subscription page for Gift Subscriptions, so the system can take your shekels. When you use this option, the next thing you need to do once you complete your purchase is send me an email at TubaDiva@aol.com with the name of your giftee. I’ll look them up and apply the subscription.

If you want to contribute to a fund to help others become paid members, please use the “Friend of Cecil” category to make a payment. Again, send me an email at TubaDiva@aol.com telling me what you would like to do. We’ll do our damndest to fulfill your request.

Wow! Thanks for coming up with a work around solution!

Quick question, with the Friend of Cecil option, it’s coming up as set amounts each WEEK instead of a one-off payment. So this is an ongoing sub until such time as I cancel it (or the SDMB goes arse-up)?

Can someone fill me in here? I nearly signed up for $50USD per WEEK I think.

No it’s not a recurring payment. It’s a one time shot.

I set it for a week so you could donate again. I should probably just make it a day.

It doesn’t mean you lose anything. It just means you can go back and donate again.

I will reset it to one day. Then you can donate every day if you feel so inclined. But you do have to go back every day and do the same steps for every donation you make, it’s a one time thing per transaction.

Ahhh, thanks. Off now to make a donation.

Thank you very much, kambuckta! Your donation is much appreciated.

The support of the Teeming Millions helps keep this place keeping on keeping on and it’s a beautiful thing.

Are there any perks, besides the obvious benefit of supporting the message boards, that come with the subscriptions? I haven’t found any information about that.

At the moment, paying members are not served ads, and also have posting privileges in the Marketplace forum.

Guest memberships are paid for with advertising, and guests may not start Marketplace threads (but guests can reply to existing threads).

Thank you.

Yes, thanks for this workaround! It really works!
