Gil Thorp is Terrible

For some reason, I cannot stop reading this strip, although it’s beyond mawkish and has plot holes that are inexcusable, even in a comic strip.

But today’s strip, with its wink-wink reference to the 9-11 tragedy, is a failure to the nth degree. I have to imagine it was meant to be - I don’t know - nice? - but it comes across as a tasteless visual riddle.

Is there anybody here who used to read Gil Thorp, but has kicked the habit, that could tell me how to do it too?

Don’t feel bad. For some reason I’ve been sucked into reading the Luann strip for a while for no reason I can think of.

Yeah, that made me cringe. Even the awful “Mallard Fillmore” simply had the text of the Pledge of Allegiance (although we all remember that shiatstorm).
