GILMORE GIRLS revival question (open spoilers for series and movie)

In “A Year in the Life,” Luke and Lorelai get married at the end. Did the chuppah which Luke built for Lorelai’s aborted wedding to Max, which she decided to keep despite not having a use for it, figure into their wedding?

Sorry, I don’t have the answer as my wife and girls are just going through the series for the first time (currently halfway through season 3). However, I have a Gilmore Girls question and this seemed like a good place to ask!

Where does the Gilmore fortune come from? I don’t watch but have been in the room when it’s on. I remember one episode where they mention that Mr Gilmore is some kind of insurance consultant? Surely you couldn’t build that kind of wealth doing that sort of work. Do they ever explain it on the show?

According to Richard Gilmore’s entry on the Gilmore Girls Wiki (because this is the world we live in now, of course there’s a Gilmore Girls Wiki),

His entry also mentions that he attended Yale, and that “[w]hen he was 27 he made a bad investment that could have cost him his home, his mother bailed him out…he was able to repay her with in six months.” From what I’ve seen, he certainly has the speech patterns, the modern version of the “Transatlantic Accent”, and the mannerisms of a stereotypical New England blueblood. I’d assume the Gilmores are an East Coast Establishment old money family, and Richard was a highly successful investor in addition to a high-ranking corporate officer at a successful multi-national corporation.

Ignorance fought, thanks! And sorry for the highjack, Skald.
