I downloaded The Gimp so I can edit a picture but need a good tutorial for someone who has never used GIMP or Photoshop before what is suggested?

I just downloaded Grokking the GIMP and am working my way through it. It’s taking a while and I figure it will be a long time before I can use it effectively.
If you find some Photoshop tutorials, you may be able to adapt the processes to GIMP. It’s the process that is important.
I’m glad this had nothing to do with Pulp Fiction.
