Gin was Mother's Milk to Her

Eh, maraschino liqueur’s not so bad (not to be confused with that liquid maraschino cherries bob around in). Doesn’t taste like much, but I suspect we get an inferior version here in the states. Speaking of which, I haven’t made an Aviation in a while; if I grab a lemon I can whip one up tonight.

I’ll bite. What’s an Aviation?

1.5 oz gin, 1 oz lemon juice, .25 oz maraschino. I tend to bump up the proportions of maraschino in the Aviation and Hemingway daiquiri because a) otherwise you can’t taste it at all and b) since you’re using it for the only sweetening in those drinks, they can get awful sour with just a quarter ounce.

If you like drink trivia, go to http://www.hotwired.com/cocktail/ and poke around. It’s a very classy site; pity they don’t really update it much anymore.
