Gina Carano is ignorant AF, but cancel culture is really getting ridiculous

I know, right!? I can only be angry at one thing at a time, damnit! Anything and everything else should have no attention paid to it!

Yes, she’s been cautioned about this before. It doesn’t take much digging on a search engine to find the evidence.

I doubt that firing Carano is going to change her mind or the mind of people who think like her.

This isn’t cancel culture. This is consequence culture.

Nope, the NPC is not necessary.

I liked the character in the story, but she’s not essential. If she never shows up again it’s no big deal. Kill her off-screen. Re-assign her to the far side of the galaxy. Doesn’t matter to the story.

Thank you for admitting that “cancel culture” is not a real problem.

It’s because cancel culture and the mentally damaged folks of the far left aren’t about progress. It’s a cudgel used for conformity and power. It’s analogous to religious institutions and their accusation of blasphemy.

Who could ever have predicted Octopus would jump into the thread without reading it in order to compare the left to a religion? I am shocked! :open_mouth:

Stealing^

Be as angry as you want at Gina Carano. I don’t care.

I’m amazed, though, at how angry people like to get on Twitter. How they like to call out “problematic” tweets. How they like to call for heads to roll. And who knows, maybe some of those heads should roll.

A lot more people than will, say, bring pizzas to a picket line. Or make a conscious decision to not order, at all, anything from Amazon.

Draw your own conclusions.

Actually, I thought the guy who spends all his time wearing a complete suit of armor with his head and face entirely covered displayed and conveyed a much greater and more nuanced range of emotion that Ms. Carano did.

She’s not a great actor. Serviceable for the part she played, but not great.

She is no great loss to the show.

Honestly, I’d forgotten the wife beating when I used him as an example. I mostly remember the train wreck afterwards. It seems when he was let go WB blamed it on “self-destructive behavior”.

I’ll see if I can come up with a better example but there seem to be a lot of parallels between people on hit shows who can’t stop running their mouths until they get fired.

I think Kaepernick is absolutely a victim of cancel culture, albeit of a different kind. And a much more sympathetic victim, IMO.

You keep using the adjective “conservative” to describe people and positions that are demonstrably RADICAL.

Please stop it.

(Yes, I recognize and acknowledge that you are not the only one who does it. I really want everyone who does it to stop it.)

What I find more problematic is the use of the noun “opinions” to describe statements that are demonstrably LIES.

Assertions that the 2020 election was stolen, or that mask-wearing isn’t helpful against COVID spread, aren’t personal opinions on a matter of opinion: they are falsehoods. Even if the idiot who asserts them is stupid or ignorant enough to sincerely believe them, that doesn’t elevate them to the status of “opinion”. They’re still lies, just widely-believed lies.

Because we gave Trump the boot. Certainly, that was on his next four years agenda.

Possibly not the most apt rejoinder to offer this particular interlocutor…

I can’t believe you’re fussing about Amazon’s labor situation, when we still don’t have universal affordable health care or a solid plan to thwart climate change.

And geez, it’s like living in Soviet Roosha with gulags and all, seeing that RFK Jr. got tossed off Instagram just for being a pernicious lying antivaxer during a pandemic.

Eh, she can get a job alongside Kevin “Boy Xena” Sorbo.
