Chop them up in a line and they do…
People wear MAGA hats and Trump facemasks in your store?
One would hope that if they wish to enter the store, they do.
Yeah… why does that surprise you?
Well, fewer such since January 6 for some reason… but for the past four years the hats and much of the last year the masks.
One of the stupidest missed opportunities from the disgraced previous administration was the decision to not market Trump masks a year ago. He could have charged his base $25 each for sime copper infused piece of cloth with his logo printed on it (from China).
Strangely, I’m happy to see it. It means that they are wearing masks.
Before the election, saw a whole lot of Trump 2020 masks.
Still see a significant number of MAGA masks.
Can’t say i’ve seen any Trump 2020 or 2024 masks since Jan 6th, though.
Others got to take advantage of that.
I have an employee that was making masks in the early days of the pandemic, before it was easy to find them. She told me that she had been asked to make MAGA masks, and she wasn’t sure if she should.
I told her that she should because that means that they would be wearing masks.
She ended up making a decent amount of money off of MAGAts.

The other day I saw a $20 bath bomb laced with THC. Apparently it’s for ‘healing’. I guarantee you Republicans aren’t the customers for that.
I know 6 people who paid $50 an ounce for CBD oil for the 3 months they were convinced it worked, all hardcore Republicans. (Yes, you can buy it more cheaply, but this is another great example of how gullible conservatives are – they believed only the “good”, i.e. most expensive, version would work. And they all did this on the recommendation of another conservative. Gullible to the core.

But your Ford F150 driving, MAGA hat-wearing QANON follower would probably never go for crystals.
Embed the crystal in a burlap-wrapped cross painted with some folksy saying & they would pay double.
There is a thread over in IMHO about left-wing wing nuts.
Briefly, my take on it is that they exist. I think the dynamic of the crystal / oil type woo is more often one of pampered self-indulgence and lots of disposable income, I’m doing something for ME…than gullibility -most of the time.
But full out crazies on the left exist. There are people that think they can heal serious illnesses, once someone in a cancer support group I was working with hired a Peruvian shaman who she seriously thought would cure her pancreatic cancer. There are people that run away from life and join yoga cults. I have a former friend that believes she’s literally channeling the “universe”.
But I think it’s important to focus on SCALE. While the definition of the groups we are calling “the right” and “the left” is fuzzy, the number of people in each group is going to be somewhere between 50 million and 100 million, maybe even a little more.
These are large groups we are discussing. In any group that large, there are going to be lots of crazy people. I agree that there are tens of thousands of people on the left that believe crazy stuff, and have believed crazy stuff for a long time. We could talk a long time about each and every one of them and the crazy stuff they believe.
But compared to the deluded right, that number is insignificant, a rounding error.
Because there are tens of millions of people on the right that have bought into conspiracy theories and this is recent phenomenon. This number comprises a significant percentage of the group we refer to as “the right”.
The reality dysfunction on the right is significant social issue because it has infected so many people and it threatens the stability of our society. There is nothing comparable happening on the other side.
This is my observation too. There are loonies on both sides, it’s human nature after all, but there are disproportionately far, far more on the right. And it seems to me that it’s much worse lately than it used to be, but that’s just from my limited experience.
The question is, are they attracting the loonies to their side, or are they manufacturing them?
ISTM, the current Republican party is doing the latter.
Part of it I believe is that for a century at least the right has coddled its loonies, while the left’s loonies have been subject to harsh suppression. Law enforcement has always viewed right-wing extremists as potential allies hike treating left-wing extremists as existential threats. And probably that’s because, fundamentally, right-wing extremists don’t as a rule threaten the existing hierarchy.
Or aren’t perceived by the hierarchy as being a threat, anyway.
Getting back to the original premise of the post….
I haven’t watched The Madalorian, or even the last two Stars Wars movies, but for some reason my YouTube feed was recommending me videos by aggrieved conservative pop culture commentators with thumbnails with large-type all-caps text headlines like GINA CARANO SILENCED!!! CANCELED BY DISNEY!!! CANCEL DISNEY PLUS!!!
Maybe I get these types of videos because I’ve watched reaction and commentary videos for other franchises under the Disney banner (Marvel, Pixar, etc). I’ve gotten some very obnoxious recommendations in the past with similar videos (some by the same YouTubers) screeching how Marvel/Disney were gong to “GET WOKE, GO BROKE” making SJW trash movies like Black Panther and Captain Marvel.
Anyway, a lot of this block of YouTubers bemoaning Gina Carano’s fate absolutely hated, and I mean hated, her character Cara Dune when she made her debut. They said Cara Dune was created to appeal to SJWs, libtards, and feminazis and was yet another sign of how Disney was ruining Star Wars by inserting politics into everything. There was also a lot of nasty commentary directed at Ms. Carano herself, saying she was an ugly musclebound freak and questioning whether she was actually a woman at all. However, Ms Carano eventually became a favorite of this bunch because of her social media posting.
I was looking for a movie to watch and came across one called Haywire. I’m not sure how I felt about the trailer, but I realized the star was Gina Carano, and was like, ehhhh pass. So I guess she is the tiebreaker in things I feel neutral about.

I know I shouldn’t engage with such idiotic comments, but that’s nuts in my view.
Gina looks crazy hot in mandalorian, I think I get hot flushes.
I may disagree with what she says, but I’ll defend to the death my right to date her.

You have to remember, there is a lot overlap between gamergters/comicsgaters and the MRA/incel movement, and that crowd is often very negative about the looks of any woman who does not meet some near-impossible standard.
@Sam_Stone: the looniness in this thread is being mentioned in the context of the stuff about COVID-19, Trump’s election lies, and QAnon. All of these are right wing, and believed by a much larger percentage of the right wing than there are leftists or liberals who believe in, say, crystals.
The left loonies are still an ignorable fraction of the populace, same as they’ve been before. The right loonies were once like that, too. But they’ve grown to massive numbers. People you’d never think would do so now support all the insane conspiracy theories. It isn’t just the occasional loon we’d make fun of in private, but largely a part of the right wing mainstream.
The health stuff is just an early indicator that the right was moving that way, as more and more right wingers seem to be drawn into what people used to think of as a leftist thing. I blame the right’s anti-intellectualism and them finding the right way to market to them–using right wing instead of left wink conspiracies. It’s stuff the government doesn’t want you to know, or that God put on earth, or that avoids those pesky liberal scientists who think they know everything.
