Girl in pornographic pictures found

Oooooooh! That’s it, we’re sending the Mounties after you!

Mmmmm…Mounties. Yummy Almost as good as Scottish men wearing kilts, but not quite.

Not necessarily. If a convicted child molester, a child murderer or anybody, feels threatened by the rest of the prison population, they can request to be seperated or moved to a different facility. If the prison officials agree that their fears are valid, the request is granted.

OTOH, jail is a whole different story. Many non-convicted child molesters are killed before they make it to prison.

So… is this now national news because some poor young girl was (reportedly) coerced into this? Or because it happened at Mickey’s place?

I think it was because the girl had appeared in lots of photos that police had seen, so they put some digitally altered pictures out to the media to get tips. After that, I guess the news places wanted to give a follow up.

It was international news, because the Toronto police wanted help in identifying the girl, so they released the photos (described as grotesque and sickening to those who saw them in their entirety) with the girl blacked out or removed altogether. They did this in an attempt to solicit help in identifying the locale through the background. They were able to figure out the pictures were taken at the Port Orleans Resort in Disney. It appears now the girl has been safe for the past two years, as she’s been in foster care. The unfortunate thing is, those photos have been and always now will be circulated on the internet.

How the hell do these sites operate, anyway? Don’t their ISPs get shut down?

A lot do, but they migrate to other ISPs.

My understanding is that it’s news because a non-abused girl showed up in some of the other pictures, and her picture was circulated as part of a “have you seen this girl” campaign, in an attempt to find the other girl who was victimized. One article I read on the subject said that some small percent of the victims in child pornography - like 10% or less - are ever identified.

15yrs is BS. Crimes like these deserve Life Without The Possibility Of Parole.

Erm, even if you’re right, there’s no evidence that the guy has been locked up for THIS crime, just that he’s in jail.

hint: read the link to the CNN story…

Yikes! I don’t think I’ve managed a triple-post before. Makes it look like I’ve added emphasis that wasn’t intended!

Well, there is always Freenet, which is damn-near impossible to track down the publisher of anything on.

And in more recent years they use the P2P networks. Their MO is to use “disposable” sites that don’t stay in one location for long, themselves acquired with “disposable” identities. Usenet Newsgroups are oftern used to get the word out or post “free samples” – often migrating between newsgroups that have been “abandoned” or overrun by spam sometime in the past, and using “code words” to get the attention of those who know what to look for. All that, that is, after the parties have layered themselves behind as many anonymity tools as they can pick up off of the net-paranoid community. (Also, a lot of the site “homes” are in locations that are… less than scrupulous about this). Never underestimate the creativity of a determined outlaw.

It was fairly good, but you didn’t point your toes properly. That’s why the Russian judge only gave you a 4.

It was rigged! I demand a recount!

In 2001, I went to the Scottish Games in Pleasanton. Among other events, I watched the Weight-for-Height competition. The men all wear kilts, and throw a 56-pound weight over a high bar (the world record is 19 feet 5 inches).

When one of the weight-for-height competitors was coming up to take his turn, the announcer said that he (the competitor) had been accepted into the Mounties, and would be starting soon.

So I saw a (future) Mountie wearing a kilt.

Maybe the Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen would be up your alley.
