Heh… first I was in elementary school. The band in intermediate school and high school. The Boy Scouts. And yeah, the military. This meant selling candy, Christmas catalogue crap, oranges and grapefruit, having car washes, magazines, selling Trail’s End Popcorn, and doing all kinds in insane crap for well, well below minimum wage. So your little girl sells $100 worth of cookies. That’s a lot of working and hustling. And then, only 10% goes to the troop? That’s only 10 bucks! And it’s not just the Girl Scout cookies. None of any of that stuff is worth the time that you put into it. Fundraisers are a stupid waste of time individually. Sure, $1000 sounds really good until you realize that 50 people gave up 10 hours of their Saturday to wash cars for a net earnings of $2 per hour. Maybe you need help for the band trip to Orlando? So, sell you own candy door to door, then – the profit margin finally makes sense.
