A few weeks ago you guys helped me decide to order Penn & Teller tickets. Now I need a restaurant recommendation.
Since this will be my first time in Vegas, and who knows when (or if) I’ll ever get back, *money is no object *(within reason: I’m going to set an upper limit of $200 before wine).
Any recommendations? Does Gordon Ramsay have a property in Vegas?
I’ve never been to any of these, but if I ever make it back to Vegas I might like to check out some of the older “classic” Vegas Restaurants/Steakhouses(Bootleggers, Battista’s Hole in the Wall, Bob Taylor’s, Trader Vic’s) with The Golden Steer at the top of my list.
Possibly Charlie Palmer Steak, if you want to go all out fancy and high end expensive?
Also sticking to the Steakhouse theme Tom Collichio’s Craft Steak at The MGM Grand. On this same page you will also notice some other big name restaurants at the MGM … Joel Robuchon, Wolfgang Puck, Michael Mina…
BOA Steakhouse in Caesar’s Palace. Fantastic place, can get pricey (Kobe beef… worth it if you have the $$$). At the very least, make sure you try their Fusion cocktail.
(I used to love 808 at Caesar’s for seafood… alas, they closed, real shame).
I just looked at the Ceasar’s website because I remembered having a great steak dinner there some years ago, and it doesn’t mention BOA but it does list Nero’s as a steakhouse. I honestly don’t remember what it was called but it was good.
I’ll heartily second the Mesa Grill recommendation. My wife and I ate there for lunch, and the food was fantastic.
Our waiter at Mesa Grill recommended the Italian restaurant in the Bellagio which overlooks the fountains. He said that the food there is absolutely amazing. We’re going to try it next time we’re in Vegas.
It’s harder to find a restaurant that SUCKS than one that’s great. Emeril’s place was really good (both the New Orleans Fish House and Delmonicos), Paris in the Eiffel Tower was good, also the steakhouse there, The restaurants in the Bellagio are great,
My problem wasn’t the food, it was that we stayed a day too long (4 instead of three)…I got tired of $150 meals
In that same area, get a Cheesburger in Paradise and a Top-Shelf Margarita at Margaritavilles for lunch one day. It tastes STUPIDLY better than it oughta.
Bellagio’s Buffet is memorable.
Oh, and just next to Circus Circus, you can get a 1/2 lb hot dog for $.99…don’t bother with the kraut…it’s cold.
When I saw Penn and Teller a few years back , after the show they took pictures and signed autographs with fans after the show. Not sure if they do that every night but you might want to bring a camera.
Last year my husband and I went to Craftsteak, B&B and Bouchon. Craft was incredible. I loved what I had at B&B (mint love letters in lamb ragu), and my husband was turned on to chanterelles with a warm lamb tongue salad with chanterelles and a raw egg. Bouchon was stunning as well – it’s sort of hidden away in the Venetian, and has huge doors that open up onto a patio.
Next time we’re in Vegas we want to try Fleur de Lys for sure.
Wherever you decide to go, make reservations as soon as you know when you’ll be in town. I think we were able to make some on Open Table.
Same thing when I saw them. Either an incredible coincidence, or they do it every night.
I tried making same-night reservations at Emeril’s New Orleans Fishhouse (MGM Grand) and was told they were full, impossible, go away, nobody can see the Wizard. We dropped by anyway, just hoping to get a banana cream pie to go…and they were empty and seated us right away. Go figure. The meal and the service were incredibly good.
I was in Vegas a few months ago and had a pretty good dinner at the Hofbräuhaus. It’s not a once-in-a-lifetime, special occasion sort of place, though. It’s loud and boisterous, and I hadn’t had good Bavarian food for a few years.
Years ago, I went to the steakhouse at Caesar’s; it might have been Nero’s.
We had the steak and lobster. Fantastic. The best I’ve ever had. Someone else covered the bill, but I remembered that the tip was $50. For what it’s worth, I thought the service deserved it.
Olive’s restaurant, Bellagio. Excellent in all respects. Some people want to sit on the balcony to get the best view of the dancing water fountains. If you want to do that, you have to go to Olive’s at around 4pm in the afternoon to book your evening table outside on the balcony.
Penn & Teller always meet and greet people after the show, and are always happy to sign autographs and have photos taken.
nth-ing Craftsteak. Had a ribeye the size of a newborn, best ever; and a cauldron of lobster bisque with a half a tail’s worth of meat at the bottom as a reward for slurping up all that soup.
